You sat nervously on the stool in the huge TV show studio. Several bright lights beamed down on you as a makeup assistant added some powder to your face and fluffed your hair. Your heart thumped through your chest, the sound filling your ears.

You’d never forgive your friends if you ended up making a fool of yourself on tv. After all, being on this ‘blind date’ show was all their idea.

The theme music started and your host came on next to you, introducing the show and explaining the game to new viewers. The 3 candidates remained hidden from your view behind a screen after they’d been kept secret from you all day.

"So, on with the show! Please ask our bachelors your first question!" the host smiled as the camera shot changed to show you shuffling your cards in front of you.

"erm… I consider myself being quite an active person although I also enjoy my lazy days. Would you consider yourself to be more lazy or active?"

"definitely more of a lazy person. There’s nothing better than a day at home watching movies and eating junk food!" came bachelor ones reply.

"I consider myself a rather active person. My job can be pretty demanding physically sometimes so I like to keep active to keep in shape. But I do like days snuggled on the sofa with a special lady" came bachelor number twos answer.

You didn’t even hear number three speak as your mind fluttered constantly to the voice you’d heard just before. His voice sounded smooth and a perfect pitch. The strangers voice almost sounded familiar, but you were unsure how. Maybe you’d heard him through the walls of the dressing rooms.

Your thoughts were promptly pushed to the back of your head as the host of the show encouraged you to ask your next question.

"My pet dog is a big part of my life. Do you like pets and do you have any?" you asked, hoping bachelor number two would give you an answer you’d like.

"I’m actually allergic to cats and dogs, but my family back home always had a fish tank with loads of tropical fish and my sister had pet turtles. They were pretty cool!" bachelor one replied.

"I have a pet dog too! He’s like my best friend. I try and take him with me whenever I travel places but it’s not always possible. Maybe our dogs can be play mates and we’ll be soul mates" came the smooth and silky voice of bachelor number two.

He was becoming flirtatious and you could hear a smirk in his voice. He was definitely confident within his answers, although not in a cocky way. You tried to picture what he looked like behind the screen, your mind wondering so much you once again missed the answer of the third bachelor.

"Now you’ve heard from all 3 of our bachelors, you now have time for one more question. This time, you can only ask ONE of our gentlemen. Then, you must chose your blind date for this evening!" came the chirpy voice of the smiling host.

You nervously shuffled through your question cards for a moment, trying to find the perfect question. You knew you wanted to ask bachelor number 2, you just weren’t sure what to ask him.

Finally, you thought of a good one.

"This question is for bachelor number 2. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?"

"well…" he paused for a moment as he thought about his answer. "I’d like to think I’d still have the job I do now. I love my job. Hopefully planning to settle down, thinking about getting married and maybe even children one day. Who knows, I may have found that special someone I love more than my job today…" his voice trailed off in thought.

Your heart fluttered as you heard him speak the last few words. You’d definitely made your choice. You just had to meet this mystery man.

"So, which of our bachelors will it be miss bachelorette? Will it be number 1, 2 or 3?"

"I pick number two!" you smiled, confident with your answer.

"alrighty then! Bachelor number 2, could you please make your way past the screen to meet your lucky lady!" the host said excitedly as the audience clapped.

Your heart began thudding hard and fast against your chest, your palms beginning to sweat slightly in nerves as your hands trembled.

As the tall, brunette walked round the screen towards you, he licked his lip lightly as he removed his hands from his pockets. His hazel eyes met yours as he smiled sweetly before leaning in and placing a soft kiss on your cheek as he greeted you. There was an air of confidence around him, although he still didn’t seem cocky. There was a slightly nervous edge to him you saw as he ran his fingers through his hair as the shows host pushed her way between the two of you.

"So tonight our lovely bachelorette has chosen the one and only James Maslow! The singer and actor known for his role in Big Time Rush!"

That’s where you knew his voice from! Your little cousin watched his show a number of times whilst you had been at her house.

Your thoughts were interrupted as you felt James take your hand in his, linking his fingers through yours and filling the gaps perfectly. He gently led you towards the lit stairs to the side of the studio set, where you would make your exit towards the transport for your date.

"we’ll today is my lucky day" James smiled as you walked hand in hand towards the car.

You looked at him questioning his words.

"I not only got a date tonight, but it’s with the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen" he smiled at you, a slight blush forming in his cheeks.

You also blushed as James opened the door to the car waiting for you at the studio entrance.

"after you, my lady" he smiled, gesturing for you to climb into the car first.

"I think I’ll let my friends off this one" you smiled to yourself as James slid into the car next to you and immediately took his hand in yours once more.
