‘’Gahh my boss is going to KILL me.’’

‘’No worse.. she’s going to fire me. I’ve been late 2 times this week, and this time it’s not even my fault!’’ You ranted. You let your head fall back against the wall making a loud bang. James laughed confused when you shot him a look.

‘’Anyway, what are you doing here… uhm.. what’s your name again?’’ You asked, not sure if you ever heard his name before. But you did recognize his face from somewhere. He seemed a little nervous.

‘’J-James.’’ He said, smiling at you. He blinked once, revealing a small twitch of the eye that somehow fell under the category of ‘cute’. You gave him a sweet smile.

‘’Oh well.. James.. I’m..’’

‘’(Y/n). I know.’’ James said, cutting you off.

‘’A-are you new here?’’ You asked him, wondering how he knew your name.

‘’No actually I don’t work here. My.. my sister does.’’ He smiled at you. You watched his face and compared it with the ones you worked with. But you couldn’t find a match.

‘’I don’t know, who’s your sister?’’

‘’Ali.’’

You thought for a while but the name didn’t ring a bell.

‘’She’s not from my floor, is she?’’ James shook his head.

‘’She.. uhm.. She mostly works on the first floor.’’ He replied vaguely, nodding his head. You glanced at the little digital screen in the elevator that read 3.

‘’But why are you going up? We’re already stuck on the third floor..’’ You asked confused.

James’ mouth opened and closed but no words came out. A rosy glow crept up his cheeks when a sudden shudder beneath you made you gasp a little. A weird tingly feeling in your stomach that was caused by sudden movement made you realize the elevator worked again. Going by the numbers 4, 5 and 6, it stopped at 7. The dinging and elevator stopped there, the doors opening slowly to let you out.

You turned around.

‘’It was nice meeti..-‘’ You stopped talking when you saw James get out on the same floor.

‘’Just in case your boss doesn’t believe you.’’ He half smiled and shrugged. You frowned a little and walked through the doors, trying to sneak to your desk.

On your tiptoes you saw your desk nearing and for a second you thought you were going to get away with this.

‘’(Y/n)! Late AGAIN.’’ Your boss said, crossing something on a piece of paper.

‘’Crap.’’ You whispered to yourself, straightening your back before turning around.

‘’I know.. but the elevator broke down and..’’

‘’I have had it with those excuses.’’ Your boss said, placing a hand on her hand while in her other hand she held a clipboard.

‘’I swear.. this is not an excuse.’’ You tried to sound as sincere as possible.

‘’She’s right Ali.’’ James suddenly appeared behind her, placing a big hand on her shoulder.

Your eyes widened. Alison.. as in your boss Alison was his sister Ali. You bit down on your tongue, going back over the conversation in the elevator, hoping you didn’t say anything offensive.

‘’I was in there with her.. we were stuck for like a half hour. You can ask the technical help.’’ He spoke in a calm voice as you watched Alison’s face soften up. She nodded once and looked back at you.

‘’You’re in luck, little lady. Don’t let there be a next time.’’ She warned as she walked off.

‘’See you at lunch!’’ James yelled. Alison put up her hand in the air, but she kept walking.

You sighed as you sat down, putting your purse on the desk. You ran a hand through your hair and looked up at the tall guy named James.

‘’How can I thank you?’’ You smiled. James placed one hand on the desk and bent over so he was on the same level as you.

‘’Go out with me tomorrow night.’’ He smiled smugly.

‘’I.. wha..-‘’ He slipped you a note with his number on it.

‘’Don’t ask questions.. yes or no?’’ He stared at you.

‘’Uh..’’ You took the note and looked at it.

‘’Okay.’’

‘’I’ll pick you up at 7 then.’’ He spoke velvety as he walked off in the direction his sister went. You slightly shook your head to what just happened, but as you turned the note over you smiled. He scribbled something down.

‘I just had to meet the girl my sister kept talking about. She sounded awesome. Now I know she is. ;)
