''I'm.. meeting Halston in a minute.'' The guy you loved the most in the whole world, said awkwardly over the phone, as a reply to you when you asked him to come over.
''Of course.'' You whispered a little heartbroken. James took it the wrong way.
''What's that supposed to mean?!'' He said, his voice defensive.
''James, I'm fucking invisible to you ever since you're dating that fake. You only spent time with me when you were alone.'' You said, letting the words roll over your tongue. You knew you had him against you when you called his girlfriend a fake. His voice exploded.
''HALSTON IS NOT A FAKE. Oh my God, I thought you were different than others. I thought you were supporting me in this.''
''I will always support you James, but not when it comes to her. She's only with you for the freaking fame, and she'll break your heart. I'm 100% sure.'' You said it. You FINALLY said it. It was something you wanted to say for so long, but you never had the guts to.
''The sad thing is, you KNOW I'm right, but you're just following your dick.'' You spat at him. In your mind you secretly had to laugh about what you said, but the anger in James' voice killed the joke right away.
''I hope you didn't get used to my face too much. Because you won't see me anytime soon anymore.'' James said coldly.
''Pssh, like I'd ever, ever since that girl happened.'' You choked out before James hung up the phone. You threw your phone through the room out of pure anger, banging it against the wall as it fell on the ground with a loud thud. It broke in pieces, but you were too angry to care about that.
-
When the doorbell rang, it awakened you out of a heavy dream. You didn't even know you fell asleep, and the doorbell was ringing with such an urge, it gave you palpitations. Rubbing your eyes, slowly walking over to the front door, you now heard knocking sounds on the door, a manly voice calling out your name in fear.
You opened the door, seeing an anxious looking James standing there. He held his heart with his hand followed with a bear hug, holding you close to him, causing you to not get your lungs filled with air properly.
''What the heck, James.'' You said, annoyed. You were still so angry with him, yet you didn't mind him holding you like that. You didn't know which side to surrender to. His chest went up and down rapidly, as if he had been running really hard.
''I thought.. I thought you..'' He tried to say in-between pants. You pushed him away, letting the anger take control.
''You thought what, James? Because frankly.. I am stunned to find you here, looking all teary eyed on my door step.'' You said, crossing your arms.
''You told me I'd never see you again, and now you're here, hugging me like.. like you thought I died or whatever.'' The sentence you just said made him breakdown. He cried so hard, the tears were streaming down his face. You got startled. You never ever saw James cry. Maybe tear up a little, but never this. Never so many tears that they were actually dripping of his chin. You couldn't handle a guy that was crying, it would only make you tear up as well. Not caring how mad you felt at the moment, you unfolded your arms, throwing them around his neck, pulling his face in the crook of your neck. You stroked his hair.
''Why are you always right? Why don't I ever listen to you?'' He said, pulling back, sniffling.
''What are you talking about?'' You whispered, leading him to the couch. You sat down.
''Halston. You were so right about her. How did I not see that?'' He said, shaking his head.
''I talked to her about the fight I had with you, she just started claiming me on everything. We got into a fight, and then without a clear reason, she broke up with me.''
You kept silent while he talked.
''I tried to call you to apologize for everything, but your cell phone was dead. I was so scared, (y/n). I thought you ..'' He stopped talking, watching your eyes. You looked at the smashed phone on the ground before you spoke.
''You really think I'd harm myself?'' You sighed.
''Not that, exactly. But I treated you like crap, you didn't deserve that.'' He took your hand.
''You're not invisible to me, (y/n). You never were. I just realized that too late. You are the one that's always there for me. No matter what happens.'' His voice was now raspy because of the tears. His eyes spelled out 'forgive me'. You swallowed away the lump in your throat, gently wiping away a tear from his cheek, leaving your hand on his cheek.
You gave him a gentle kiss on his lips, your face in pain, because you could feel his heart break.
''I love you, you idiot. That's why I'm there for you.'' You whispered to him. He nodded, now a small smile appearing on his lips.
''Thank God I found the good in that goodbye.'' He said, referring to the breakup he had earlier.
''I bet it sucks to be her right now.'' You giggled, feeling cheesy that you were recalling Beyonce's song 'Best Thing I Never Had'.
