‘’Look Joanna, it’s not so scary!’’ James said, looking at his little girl that he was carrying.
You walked behind them, carrying the stuff you were needing for a day at the beach. You found a good spot, It was half covered in sun and shadow. A perfect spot.
You put a few beach towels on the ground and the picnic basket next to you. Joanna was wearing inflatable bands around her arms.
‘’So you want to go into the water with Daddy?’’ James asked, holding Joanna. She looked a little frightened at you, and you gave her a warm smile.
‘’Daddy won’t let anything happen to you, baby girl.’’ You said, stroking her rosy cheek that she inherited from James.
She looked back up at James with a smile, jumping up and down.
‘’Yes!!’’ She cried out.
‘’Come on then.’’ James laughed. You watched your fiancé and your little girl run off to the water.
You and James were actually just engaged. Even though Joanna was 5 years old now, you could describe it as an ‘accident’. A beautiful one that’s for sure. You didn’t want to get married the day you found out you were pregnant, because really, you both didn’t feel marriage is an obligation when you’re with child.
You figured you’ll love each other just as much anyway, and the right day to marry would come.
That’s why James popped the question a few weeks ago.
You watched James and Joanna standing at the shore, the sun making them into far away shadows. He took her hand, and slowly walked into the water with her. She jumped up, and soon let go of James’ hand, throwing a little water on his chest. You could hear the faint screams of Joanna’s joy as she ran away from her father, who was chasing her with water in his hands. It looked so cute from here.
Joanna came running up to you, her little legs running as fast as they could.
‘’Mommy! Mommy!’’ She screamed happily, still running away from James who was walking behind her. She took your hand, hiding behind you, watching her dad. James grinned that grin, and you knew he was up to something.
‘’Don’t you dare, James David Maslow. Don’t you dare.’’ You said, smiling a big smile, watching his eyes.
You stood up when you saw James’ hands move that were still covered with water, and you took Joanna by the hand, running away from it as if it were poisoned. James missed, and ran back after you to get more water, your laughter filling the air.
You 3 ended up having a water fight in the base of the ocean, until the sun was fading in the horizon to let you know it was time to go home and rest from a perfect and beautiful day that was filled with love.
