"I think we need a little help. Are any of you willing to come up here?" The screams that erupted from the little statement brought a grin to your lips as you kept your hand down. You didn't want to ruin the chances for them on getting picked.
Not when you were dating one of the members of the up and rising band.
You had been dating James Maslow for a little over two years and had grown accustomed to the energy that filled each concert. Having never missed a single one, a proud feeling seemed to swell over you with each event. To know that the band's popularity was rising with their true music was something that you loved.
Watching as your boyfriend's movements, which were filled with true emotion, spread to the fans standing in the stadium, you couldn't help but feel it as well. Here was the man that held so much responsibility in his hands but never missed a day of telling you that you were his. No matter how tired he was after a concert, he always took the time to make you feel loved.
The energy only seemed to rise as the boys slowly picked their candidates, each one escalating the madness that ensued around you. All wanted that once in a lifetime chance that told them they weren't far from their idols.
As time ticked on and the girls were slowly brought on stage, screams grew louder and hands rose higher as each girl longed to be one of the lucky four. It had finally come down to one last pick and to you, it was the man that truly mattered. Watching the way his bangs stuck to his sweaty forehead, the urge to come up there and fix them surged through you as you continued noticing how his gaze went across the entire crowd.
But by some chance, hazel eyes landed on you and his grin widened. Not used to being on this side of the stage, you began to wonder why he had insisted on you doing the action as a soft smile crossed your own lips. Raising a hand to wave lightly, you silently wished him luck for the rest of the night. You had hoped he had saw your actions. From the crowd that surrounded you, surely your motions could be covered. As his hand that held the microphone rose to his lips, your ears desperately longed for the voice that kept you going. That calmed you.
"I think I found her." Glancing around, you watched as he jumped from the high stage and presumably walk towards the lucky girl that caught his attention. Confusion flashed over your eyes at the action though. Most of the time, the fans were led up to him.
Watching his long strides glide him across the room, your eyes widened as he approached you, his hand outstretched as his grin transformed into a soft smile. No wonder he had requested this from you. Taking his hand into your own, a surge of feelings swept over you as they became intertwined. Even if you had been together for so long, the feelings of butterflies didn't pass. And you were sure you never wanted them too.
The lights of the stage had seemed brighter than you had ever seen them before as you took your first steps onto the platform, your hand still clutching his tightly as you were submerged in the feeling of flight. Being so close yet so far from the crowd brought a sense of magic into your system as you turned to look at your boyfriend, a grin plastered on your face.
No one knew of your relationship. After speaking with James, it was decided that it was best to do so. With the goals of the band escalating and the stories of crazed fans, he didn't want to take the risk of getting you hurt and swept up in the moment, you had agreed.
Now seated on the all too familiar wooden stool, you turned for a brief moment to see the other lucky females that were smiling from ear to ear. You were happy for them. You would have been the same way. Well, you were ecstatic even now.
Taking the next moment to stare into the eyes that always pulled you in, you felt his hand squeeze around your own as he started the familiar song, Worldwide. The soft melody flowed through your ears as all his work did and your eyes closed for a second, believing it was just you and him. Back in your home as he pulled you closer into his arms.
Using the role of an over-excited fan, you had leaned your head on his shoulder and took in the smell that belonged only to him. As cheesy as it sounded, it was true. You had wanted to envelop him in a hug, to press closer to him and be in the only spot where you knew you were safe.
But that was going too far and you stayed in your position, content for the most part on the way things were.
The serenity didn't last long though as he pulled away from you and a protest began to form on your lips before your (e/c) widened for the second time that night.
Before you was the man you had known for years, kneeling in front of you with a small black box in hand. The ring, despite how beautiful, wasn't what caught your attention though. It was the sincerity in his eyes, something that couldn't be re-enacted in any romance movie.
As he lowered the microphone, the words spoke clearly to you despite the noise as tears welled in your eyes from pure joy. A hand rose to your lips to hold the strangled cry as you shakily watched him, the smile from before now mixed with a nervous nature.
"Will you marry me?"
No words left your lips at this point. You were scared that they would be just as jumbled as they were in your head. You had just wanted to say yes but instead your mind ran with thoughts instead of coming to the conclusion you desired. Choosing to nod instead, your hand lowered from your lips to reveal the smile that had grown with his proposal before he swept you into his arms.
A laugh rang in your ears as you felt the microphone on your back, and you joined in immediately. Wrapping your arms around his neck, your laugh echoed his as your eyes closed tightly in joy.
Pulling slightly away, James snatched the ring to place it on your finger. The grin you had been watching seemed to grow with each second that had passed and raising the microphone back to his lips, the rest of the boys kept quiet and allowed him to speak his heart to his new fiancé.
" 'Cause you have my heart." With those words said, the arms that still gripped your waist pulled you closer as your lips connected. It didn't last long but the emotions were present as you took in the moment. Something you would never forget.
Breaking the short contact, James rose the microphone between the two of you as a light chuckle escaped once more. "She said yes. My girl said yes."
