=Sabre's POV=
Rainbow Steve and I gracefully landed on the pedestal in the center of the In-Between. We released each other's hands and turned to Elemental Steve, who had a small smile and thoughtful expression on his face.
"Come along, children. It's time for training." He gestured for us to follow, walking through one of the five portals. We followed, both having somewhat of a bounce in our step.
He led us down the portal hall, into yet another portal. We were in an enclosed bedrock chamber, with steps lined with sea lanters leading up to an iron door. "Now, Sabre, Rainbow Steve, I'm warning you that this will not be easy in any way possible. This is your last chance to back o-"
"Let's do it!!" Rainbow Steve and I responded simultaneously. Elemental Steve let out a long sigh. "If you dare complain to me then I won't ever help you again." He warned. The iron door opened and we were led into a large, multi-biome arena surrounded by sky reaching bedrock walls.
"Woah..." Rainbow Steve breathed. All I could do was gape in awe. Elemental Steve literally had to push us along as we stared to the sky. When I finally came to my senses, I was face-to-face with Nightmare Steve.
I screamed and stumbled back, a pair of arms catching me. Elemental Steve stood me upright. "Relax, Sabre, I have him frozen in time. He can't move without my permission." He explained. I could've sworn I saw the bee glare at Elemental Steve.
"Aha, that's nice! We're fighting the guy who literally TRAUMATIZED us, KILLED Sabre while he was Blue Steve, tried to kill me MULTIPLE times, wouLDN'T LEAVE ME ALONE FOR ABOUT HALF MY LIFE-"
I turned to Nightmare Steve as Rainbow Steve yelled about the situation, Elemental Steve defending himself by yelling about how we kept interrupting him, which was true, and I felt sorry about now that we couldn't back out.
I studied him, walking around him. Honestly, with Nightmare Steve frozen like this, I felt a lot more confident. I chuckled a bit. "Heh, Look at this guy! He can't even do anything!" I stood to the side, waving my hand in front of his face.
"He's so powerless like this, I can call him whatever I want! Dummy! Looser! Bumble B-"
Nightmare Steve's head snapped toward me, a twisted smile on his face and an insane look in his eyes. A definite change from his bored expression earlier. I screamed and ran.
"HE LOOKED AT ME, HE LOOKED AT ME!! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!" I shreiked.
After a bit of screaming, I felt Rainbow Steve's arms around me. "Sabre, calm down!! He didn't move, you're hallucinating, you big dumb chicken!!" He reasoned.
"Wh- I'm not even a chicken anymore, I'm in normal clothes!" I defended. "Explain this then." Rainbow Steve plucked a feather out of my hair, tickling my nose with it. I brushed his hand away, letting out a sneeze.
"Come back here, Sabre, Rainbow Steve. I must explain what just happened!" Elemental Steve called. We went over to him with curiosity.
"Yes, Sabre, Nightmare Steve did look at you-" "I knEW IT!! I TOLD YOU RAI-" "WOULD YOU JUST LET ME FINISH!?" I shut up immediately when Elemental Steve yelled. That was scary-
"Thank you, Sabre. Time Steve is trying to take the powers I rightfully confiscated from him back. I know he is after me, so we do not have much time to defeat him. You two must train so that you can weaken him. Will you two be able to handle yourselves for three hours while I'm teaching your friends how to defend themselves?" He asked.
"I.. I think so..? We need armor and weapons! Can you help with that?" I chirped. Elemental Steve nodded. "There is a stack of diamond ore and a stack of iron ore dispersed throughout the arena, all about a dozen or so blocks below the surface. In order to win, you must survive and adapt to circumstances of having nothing."
I grabbed Rainbow Steve's hand. "...Can you just guarantee us one thing..?" I mumbled. "What must it be, Sabre?" Elemental Steve replied. "Can you guarantee that we'll both survive?"
Elemental Steve's expression softened."Yes, Sabre. Both you and Rainbow Steve will survive this." He shot a glare in Nightmare Steve's direction, before flying into the air. "You have a five minute headstart before I release Nightmare Steve!" He called out.
"Three,
Two,
One,
GO!!!"
Oh boy, I sure did regret this decision.
