=Sabre's POV=
I groaned, dizzy from the sudden teleport.
Wait.. teleport? I sat up in the grass that was oddly still around my body, not even a breeze swaying the tall blades in the slightest. It was dark, being night out, tall, mangrove trees with hanging vines and widespread branches dotted heavily around the grassy valley.
I pushed myself up with a grunt, trying my best to keep steady on my feet as I felt unbalanced. Where was I? What was this place? Why was it night?
I looked up at the stars, no moon visible in the sky. But then again, it could be blocked by one of those mangroves. I began walking, keeping my eyes peeled for any people or animals. The area was strangely unpopulated, which sent an uneasy feeling through me. Where was everyone..?
I made it to the top of the little hilly area surrounding me, gasping at the sight of lava lakes stretching on for what looked like miles, little islands dotting the sea of molten rock. It was a strangely calming sight as I stared. The air was not too hot, only warm, and strangely didn't smell of sulfur, rather some flowery smell, like the kind that comes in spring.
I made it a point to myself not to get too close to the lava, heading down the small hill and to a flatter area. I walked through the mangroves, which were somehow not burning, the lava near the shore bubbling and popping.
"Sabre?" I jolted at the soft voice, whipping around to be met with the one and only Rainbow. I immediately hugged him, stuffing my face into his... not very soft hair. I pulled away, Rainbow looking up at me and blinking. "..Rainbow Steve?" I asked, getting a small "Yes?" from him.
"Are you okay? You didn't return my hug." I took a step back as Rainbow tilted his head, the rest of his body unmoving. It was unnerving, to say the least, as he smiled. "Am I... okay." He stated rather than asked. I took another step back. "Rainbow.. how long ago was the Rainbow Town destroyed?"
"..I don't know what you're talking about."
"Huh?"
"I said, I don't know what you're talking about."
I turned and ran. This wasn't my Rainbow. No no no, this dimension is evil. I should've known from the lava. The smell of flowers began to grow sickeningly sweet, the lava and stars growing brighter in my eyes. I slowed and began to cough as the world began to spin, only to crash into something, or someone, sending them to the ground.
"Who-" I looked up, only to be met with a black and white peppermint styled mask.

The small Steve watched from the trees as the human walked off in a random direction. They didn't like people in their dimension.. but then again, they could just make them forget everything that happened here, no matter what went on. And besides, this is what their father wanted them to do, they couldn't disobey.
They decided they'd try to approach Sabre. Maybe earn his trust by sending out a memory of Rainbow Steve? They watched from afar as the memory chased Sabre around, then they teleported in front of Sabre, stopping him and desummoning the memory.
Sabre crashed into the Steve, sending them to the ground. They acted scared, backing away from the human, and in all honesty, their antisocial behaviors were definetly screaming at them to run away.
Sabre stared for a moment, seemingly disoriented, then slowly approached the Steve, kneeling down and holding out his hand. "Hey, buddy, sorry about that, are you alright..?" He asked. He was so kind hearted..
The smaller paused, hesitating to take Sabre's hand. They sat up on their own as Sabre retracted his arm. "I'm fine.." They mumbled. It felt so weird to have a non-hostile conversation. Especially with someone their father considered an enemy.
"Sorry for bumping into you, I wasn't looking where I was going." He apologized. The Steve shook their head. "It's fine, I guess." They replied.
They Steve pulled their knees to their chest, watching as Sabre sat crisscross. "I'm Sabre. What's your name?" He asked kindly. "Memory.." They responded reluctantly. No! Don't tell him your name! Memory's inner voice screamed, but they ignored their instincts. They could just erase Sabre's memories either way.
"Memory, huh? Your powers have to do with memories, I'm guessing?" He asked. Poor Memory felt so awkward as they nodded shyly. Sabre tilted his head.
"Oh, so maybe you could help my friend with his memories! They got all jumbled up and he only remembers his past, but not semi-recent events. Only if you want to help, though." Sabre quickly added.
Memory gulped. "S-sorry, my powers don't work like that." They lied. Sabre nodded in understanding, but still seemed disappointed. Memory hated that look. "Hey, where are we right now?"
"Oh- uhh.. we're in m-my dimension" Memory wanted to curse themselves for all the stuttering, but it couldn't really be helped.
"This place? Huh, for such a kind guy, this seems like an awfully evil looking place.. There was an evil version of my friend too, but I think I lost him." He mumbled. Memory gulped and tugged at their tie. "U-uhh.. st-style choice-" they sputtered.
"What was with the evil Rainbowy guy then?" Sabre questioned. Memory gulped, backing away a bit, hoping Sabre it would think it was for a bit of space and not from fear. "I looked into your memories and made a projection of him to introduce me to you and gain your trust.." Memory admitted, "I didn't expect for him to turn on you.." Which was a lie.
"Aw, you could've just approached me on your own, bud, I don't bite." Sabre said, his tone softening. "W-well how would you have reacted if you saw me randomly approaching you!? You would've screamed and ran away 'cause I'm scary!" Memory cried. Sabre was taken aback. "I-"
"Everyone else runs away!! I had to make someone else look scarier than me!" They admitted yet another thing. Great. "So you- you lied about not wanting something you made, being hostile on accident." Memory flinched at the tone in Sabre's voice. "Ugh! I'm done with this!" They yelled, taking off their mask and staring Sabre in the eyes. Sabre blinked back in shock, and everything went white.
