Damian was in a state of emotions. Raven was always with him now, she insisted on helping him all the time. Dick and the others were also recovering. Kori was determined to not let Dick out of her site again.
Damian was sitting in a wheelchair. His spine was still badly damaged but lucky for him, his father was working on something that could restore his legs. However it would take a few months to prepare and even longer because Bruce had to take up the job of hunting down Slade.
"Damian, are you alright?" Raven was concerned for him greatly. He had barely said a word since he found out about his legs. Although he was grateful for Raven, he hated being a burden and felt he didn't deserve this.
"I'm fine." His words as well as his face were emotionless, still keeping up his persona. On the inside though, he was broken and thought that Raven ought to know the truth about his nightmares to stop her worrying more and maybe bring some reassurance.
"Raven, I think I should tell you about the situation you're worried about."
"If you're comfortable with that then ok."
"I've been having nightmares about my grandfather. He reminded me that I'm nothing but a disappointment to everyone, I'm undeserving of any positive emotions and I... I don't deserve to live. All the things I've done. All the things I've been. I'm not what anyone wants me to be. I fail everyone." Damian was on the verge of breaking down. He sugar coated it a bit but Raven felt what he was feeling and she put her hand on his hand and held it tightly.
"Damian that's not true. You don't fail everyone. You deserve to be happy, you deserve what anybody should deserve. You are better than you ever were before. Think of what you have as well, the people who care. Your father, Alfred, your brothers, the Titans... me!" Raven knew now she had to tell him. She had to even if he didn't reciprocate her feelings it might at least bring some comfort as he'll know how much she cares.
"Damian, I'm not always looking after you because you're my friend, you're more than that..." she gazed up looking into those majestic, hypnotic emerald eyes. The same eyes that leave her hypnotised. "Basically Damian... I-I have feelings for you... I care about you more than you know... I know you probably don't feel the same but..."
She was cut off by his hands grabbing hers. Their soft touch left her speechless. 'Did he feel the same?' She wondered. Now she would find out.
"Raven, you have no idea how long I've anted to tell you but... I do feel the same. I feel at home in your presence, I care about you so much and I could never deny how I feel about you." He said smiling into her beautiful amethyst eyes. He was initially surprised and she was even more so when he confessed.
They sat there staring into each other's eyes until they embraced in a warm hug. They promised each other that there would be nothing in the way of them now and they would always be there for one another.
"Damian I hope you know how happy I am because of you."
"I do, because I'm just as happy because of you."
"I have one question though."
"What?"
"Why did you bring Alfred here?"
"Not what I was expecting." Damian couldn't help but grin at that. He knew that they were going to grow their relationship together and try to see where it would go and he liked how a normal conversation could still arise out of what just happened.
They were both extremely happy again and they couldn't wait to explore this relationship with each other.
"Apparently he was being a nuisance around the manor until I got there. Father wanted to see if he still would be if he was with me, which he isn't, so now my cat lives here too." Raven was also surprised but happy they could just have a normal conversation after that. She was overjoyed that the two had mutual feelings for each other. She was surprised that Titus hadn't mauled Alfre the cat to submission with Damian's answer though.
"I like the fact he's here.
I also wanted to apologise for that night when I bursted in through a portal. I know how you are with privacy and I should've respected that."
"Don't apologise, you care and that made me happy inside."
The two were still smiling at each other and they were having nice conversations all day until they both fell asleep. Titus and Alfred jumped up to sleep with their owners. Sleeping on the bed with them as Damian and Raven held each other close in their sleep.
Damian couldn't help but wonder who had called him that night though. Raven came in before he could see who it was. That would have to wait though, for now he just wanted to hold the person he cared about the most and sink into her soft, warm touch.
