what felt like hours, when in reality was ten minutes.
the girls had come to a halt, out of breath from running.
they had very similar features, brown eyes and shaven heads.
they were twins.
each barely spoke, the youngest one was too afraid to speak so she was mute. the older one only spoke up to one to two words not even a full comprehend-able sentence.
they were both autistic. undiagnosed.
as they stopped to catch their breaths, they saw a sign for a diner up ahead.
on cue, the sisters stomaches' growled indicating they were hungry.
they weren't fed at the lab as much, food was a reward and it came very rarely for the children.
the youngest started to make their way for the diner. the oldest pulled her back by the wrist.
she shook her head, unsure if the real world was safe for them.
what if there was more bad men outside of the laboratory?
what if they got taken back if somebody in the real world saw them wandering around?
they had to be careful with interacting with anyone and they had to especially be careful when using their powers, they knew for a fact people would go crazy if they saw two little girls moving objects with their minds.
the eldest one who was known as 011 let out a shaky breath, before moving her hand down towards her sister's hand who was 012. they moved out of the clearing and into the open, straight towards the diner.
they entered the parking lot of the joint, eleven quickly pulled her sister back behind a wall watching a man walk out holding a trash bag in his hand.
they observed him putting the trash into the garbage can.
eleven and twelve walked behind the diner, once the owner was out of sight.
finding a door in the back, eleven opened it.
she walked in first with her sister following.
eleven carefully closed the door behind them making sure it didn't make any noise.
they passed by the pantry, seeing the man from before serving a customer.
"all right, and one more." they overheard him say to the customer.
the girls made their way into the next room, which was the kitchen.
the youngest girl, twelve spotted a basket of fries. she tugged on her sister's bloodied sleeve, to show her her discovery.
