being by themselves for a whole day while mike went to whatever school was, didn't last for long.
mike opened the door to the basement.
"come on, the cost is clear. you can come up here while everybody's out." mike told them.
the girls did as they were told, scurrying up the stairs as quick as possible.
the basement wasn't that bad, but being forced to stay in it all day wasn't exactly decent.
he led them into what was called the kitchen, he opened the fridge going over drinks asking if they wanted any.
el and eve grew bored of the kitchen. so they decided to wander out of the room, entering another room with a sofa and television in it.
mike quickly followed them.
"oh, this is my living room." he told them. "it's mostly just for watching tv."
they went straight for the television, inspecting it with mere curiosity.
"nice, right? it's 22-inch." all irrelevant to the girls, who could care less about the size of the tv.
"that's like ten times bigger than dustin's." mike commented.
they go over to a set of pictures sat on a little table, the girls notice a picture of a girl with brown hair.
eleven grazed the photograph "pretty."
mike scrunched up his nose in disgust and goes "i guess. that's my sister nancy."
they look over at the next photograph, the photo was of a little girl.
"and that's baby holly."
they then see a photo of a man and a woman together.
mike goes "and those are my parents."
el and eve make eye contact with each other, as far as they knew they didn't have parents.
the bad men would always tell the girls, nobody would have children like them and they sort of agreed with the bad men.
"what are your guys parents like?" mike asked.
el and eve ignored him, not having an answer to give him even if they did indeed have parents like he did.
did everybody have parents? they started to wonder.
or were they the less fortunate to be given any?
either way it was sad and they wished to have been given a life as good as mike's probably was.
hopefully they'd get to be happy soon.
"do they live close by?" he pressed on, clearly not dropping the topic.
