hopper was busy making breakfast one morning, until he sensed a presence from behind him.
he turned around, jumping a little when seeing el and eve dressed as ghosts.
"oh, jesus." hopper said, holding a hand to his heart.
"ghost." el pointed out.
"yeah, i see that." hopper said when calming down.
"halloween." eleven then stated, having learned about the holiday from a book eve had been reading at the start of the halloween season.
"sure is. but right now, it's breakfast, okay? come on you two, let's eat." hopper told them, bringing their plates of food over to the table.
"they wouldn't see us." eleven said to him.
"who wouldn't see you?" hopper asked.
"the bad men." eleven clarified.
eve had already taken off her sheet. she was now sat at the table, waiting patiently for the others to take a seat so she could start eating.
"you two want to go trick-or-treating? you know the rules." hopper reminded them, bringing his and el's plates over to the table.
eve didn't want to go. her sister made her dress up.
"yes, but-" el protested.
"yeah, so you know the answer." hopper confirmed, taking a seat across from eve.
"no, but they wouldn't see us." el pressed.
"no. hey. i don't care." hopper expressed.
"but, they wouldn't see us." el refused to let go of the topic so easily.
"i don't care, all right? you both go out there, ghosts or not, it's a risk. we don't take risks. all right? they're stupid, and..."
the girls locked eyes with one another, before going; "we're not stupid!"
"exactly. now, you take that off, sit down with your sister and eat. your food's getting cold. (he sighed, watching el tear off her sheet and sit down at the table slumped over.) right, look... how about i get off early tonight, and i buy us a bunch of candy, and we can sit around and get fat, and we watch a scary movie together? how's that for a compromise?" hopper proposed.
