they were now outside, getting ready to leave for the lab.
eve couldn't back out now, she knew her sister needed her. even though eve thought she wasn't strong enough.
while eve waited by the truck, el and mike were having a moment.
"just be careful, okay? i can't lose you again." mike told her.
"you won't lose me." eleven assured him.
"do you promise?" mike asked her.
she smiled. "promise." she said back to him.
just as they leaned in to kiss, hopper ruined the moment by telling el they needed to go.
eleven sighed deeply, watching hopper in the corner of her eye head for his truck.
"okay." mike said, letting her go.
el hopped into the front seat, with her eyes glued on mike.
eve glanced over at max who was stood at the front door watching her.
eve waved 'goodbye' before getting into the backseat.

as they made their way to the lab, hopper decided to break the awkward silence by saying to el "so, what, we're just not gonna talk about it, huh?"
this better not escalate into a heated argument.
eve was not in the mood to play monkey in the middle right now as they scream at each other.
"about what?" eleven questioned.
he eyed her up and down. "oh, i don't know. i'm just curious, you know, why all of a sudden you look like some kind of MTV punk."
'a what?' eve wondered.
el drew out a huff, waiting for the screaming and more privileges to be taken away from her.
"i'm not mad, kid. i just want to know where you've been. that's all." hopper spoke truthfully.
"to see mama." eleven answered him, looking out her window.
"okay. how'd you get there?" he pressed.
"a truck." she replied.
his eyes widened. "a truck?!"
"a big truck." she further explained.
"a big truck? whose truck was it?" hopper said, sounding worried.
"a man's." eleven claimed.
"a man's?" hopper repeated her.
"a nice man." eleven assured him, which didn't make him feel any better over the fact she went in a stranger's vehicle to take her somewhere.
