that night, they were all at will's house.
as they were talking, a light coming from outsides stopped them.
they all get up and go out on the porch. seeing who they assumed was mike's sister nancy run up to mike pulling him into a hug.
"i was so worried about you." nancy expressed to him.
"yeah, uh... me, too." mike said awkwardly.
nancy then noticed the two girls stood behind him.
"are those my clothes?" she then asked him.

everyone sat at the table, with mike explaining to them how they were going to get to the upside down. to save will and to also save nancy's friend barbara.
"okay, so, in this example, we're the acrobat. will and barbara, and that monster, they're this flea. and this is the upside down, where will is hiding. mr. clarke said the only way to get there is through a rip of time and space."
"a gate." dustin clarified.
"that we tracked to hawkins lab." lucas added.
"with our compasses." dustin included.
all of the adults and teen looked confused.
"okay, so the gate has a really strong electromagnetic field and that can change the directions of a compass needle." dustin tried to better explain to them.
"is this gate underground?" the chief chimed in.
"yes." eve whispered.
"near a large water tank?" he inquired.
"yes." eleven then said.
"how do you know all that?" dustin questioned the chief.
yeah, how did he know?
"he's seen it." mike clarified.
the woman known as joyce, turned to the girls. she had bags under her eyes and her eyes were puffy like she had been crying nonstop for days.
"is there any way that you two could... that you two could reach will? that both of you could talk to him in this-" joyce paused, trying to remember what it was called.
"the upside down." el finished for her, understanding where she was getting at with her question.
"down. yeah." joyce nodded.
"and my friend barbara? could you guys find her, too?" nancy then requested.
they sure would try.

the girls were sat at the table, with a picture of nancy's friend and one of will set in front of them. the radio was on the table as well, static filling the dead air.
