She stood there in front,
Healthy glowing skin.
Her face shone in the light,
Pink lips that gave signs of fine.Light dark underneath her eyes,
Better than as days passed by.
Sleep deprived no longer was she,
No long awakened anxious nights.I smiled at her,
She smiled back.
But something in her eyes said
She was wearing a mask. Her lips pulled up
In a weary little pleasant smile.
The corner of her eyes grinned
With something not just as fine.I looked into her eyes,
Just like every other one did.
She stared back,
And stood still. There was a clatter in her eyes,
A scream she couldn't pipe.
That beautiful smile and glow
Hid tears unheard and cried.Tranquility froze emotions her,
Fire of life burnt into ashes.
Silhouette her told tales she didn't knew
To discover it was about herself. She no longer wanted to be understood,
There was magic in this confinement.
This pain gave endless despair,
At least not false hope mocking at bay.My lips pulled up
In a weary little smile.
Heard her whisper through sealed lips,
"I ain't fine".She believed in me,
Though it took me so long to hear her.
The melody she sang in solitude,
Only I and I could hear.I smiled assurance,
She smiled back;
I walked away from the mirror.
She, too, walked by.- Zayana Cullen
