The girls arrived at the movie theater ten minutes to five P.M. Mary pulled into a spot, closer to the food court. She turned off the ignition and sat there staring straight ahead. Lori turned her head to look at her sister.
"Everything OK?" she asked. Sisterly concern welled up inside her.
Fiddling with the keychain, Mary replied "I'm fine. Just nervous I guess." And she is, really nervous. Her pulse raced and her face flushed at the thought of Bobby Brown.
Lori sensed this. "Understandable since we've never been anywhere with these snakes," she stated with a gentle voice.
Putting on her optimism, Mary nodded. "There's a first time for everything," she exclaimed.
With encouragement, Lori shared "That's the spirit!" She smiled sweetly at her.
As the girls exited the Jeep, Mary asked "Where are we supposed to meet everyone?" She doesn't recall Ash saying it.
"At the movie theater. We're going to check times first," Lori responded. They started making their way to the mall entrance.
As they were crossing the street, they observed two cars drive in. The first car was a cherry, red Avanti. The other car was a sleek, silver Corvette. Both cars carried the boys of Cobra Kai. Knowing Bobby drives the Corvette made her feel a little breathless. She noticed Dutch riding with him and talking very animatedly with his hands.
"Should we wait for them?" wondered Lori. She was watching them park.
Not wanting to see Bobby just yet, Mary stated "No. I think it will be fine if we don't. Besides, I need to use the restroom. I drank too much water on the way here."
Lori inclined her head to her. "Do you want me to wait for you?" She can be supportive in that way.
"No. You can go ahead and meet up with everyone, at the theater. I'll come along when I'm finished," Mary kindly replied.
With an "O.K. Love you" Lori gave Mary a hug before heading off to the theater. Their girlfriends were already waiting. They waved with enthusiasm at each other, then greeted with hugs.
While Mary was in the restroom, everyone gathered at the ticket booth. Strutting up to the girls, Dutch spoke with an air of conceit, "Hello ladies! Here I am. Now the fun can began".
"Wow!" declared Ash with sarcasm. "If that ego of yours gets any bigger we'll have to take you to the Balloon Shack to have it deflated."
At that Dutch walked closer to her. He grabbed her hand, kissed it, and whispered "Ashley, my ego can get bigger, much bigger. I'll show you later." He gave her a smirk and a wink for her trouble.
Ash crossed her arms and gave him an unamused look. Then she blurted out, "Thanks but I have plans to reorganize my closet."
She saw Dutch put a pout on his lips. "The offer is always open," he noted. With those parting words he flashed her a rogue smile, then wandered off in Lori's direction (he hopes she snuck some of those cookies into her purse).
When Bobby approached the theater, he scanned the group for his longtime crush. He felt disappointed when he didn't see her, and his hopeful expression changed. "Don't worry man. She's here, just not here right now," Johnny muttered quietly. He had noticed his best friend's dejected face. Bobby nodded his head in agreement.
Deciding to take over, Ashley announced "OK group, so it looks like the times for both Sixteen and Nightmare are actually pretty close in time." She stated this in an authoritative manner.
