The sun is high, in the cloudless sky, and the surf is tame. Several sailboats are out on the water today. Some are pulling water skiers, while others are deep sea fishing. All in all it's a beautiful day for the beach. California sun, sand, and surf.
Pausing the jet skies, Gemma swiveled her head around to talk to Mary. "Are you ready to go in yet?"
Pushing her sunglasses up on her nose, she took a glance at her light pink Shark Freestyle waterproof watch. Judging by the time "The tiki bar should be open now. And if my calculations are correct, it's floating along our stretch of beach."
"Awesome! Let's go," shouted Gemma as she took off. Mary followed after her with a joyful shout.
Back on the beach, Jimmy and Dutch took their shirts off. From the cabana Ashley noticed and stated "Ew! Put it back on."
"Oh no! Here they go again," Lori murmured to Tommy. She made a face at the two of them.
Tommy shrugged and replied, "She goads him into it. Dutch is the king of comebacks. He has something to say about everything." He looked at his friend strutting over to the cabana, Jimmy following behind. "They should make out and get it over with."
Lori uncrossed her arms and agreed. "But they are pretty funny to listen to though."
Ashley knew she said the wrong thing, as soon as the words left her mouth. But she was trying to distract Dutch, from accidentally blurting out her secret.
Dutch strutted over to her, looking like Hercules in the flesh. "Ashley you've got to stop doing that," he stated with a serious voice.
Peering over her sunglasses she asked, "Doing what?"
"Saying things that make me want to kiss you," he announced while flashing his perfect teeth.
Ash huffed out a breath. With a sassy scowl, she replied "Puh-lease, as if I would let your mouth touch mine. Who knows where it's been." Gwen leaned over to high-five her for that one.
Standing close to Ashley, he leaned down and whispered "One day soon sweetheart. One day real soon." He turned and walked away, talking with Jimmy.
A heated Ashley checked out his butt. She grabbed a cold water bottle and raised it to her forehead. Gwen noticed this and raised her eyebrow in question. Ash raised her eyebrow back, "What? The sun is hot out here."
To which Gwen sarcastically remarked, "Yeah OK". They both went back to flipping through their magazines.
Close to the water's edge, Bobby and Johnny were throwing a frisbee around. "Hey Bobby, why hasn't your girl come in yet? She knows you're here right?" asked Johnny throwing the frisbee.
Bobby thought about what Johnny asked. Before going to retrieve the frisbee, he responded to his friend. "Don't know man. Do you think she regrets saying yes?" He took off to fetch the frisbee and threw it back.
When he returned Johnny stated, "She could be nervous seeing you, but I don't think she'd regret saying yes. That would be a big stretch." He threw the frisbee again, just in time to see the Tiki Bar float around the corner.
"Tiki Bar!" shouted Tommy and Lori. They waved and motioned towards it. Everyone stopped what they were doing and hurried over. "So how are we going to get out there?" asked Tommy. As he surveyed the surroundings different thoughts came to his mind like taking the cushions off the cabana chairs and paddling.
