Impatient: restless, eager, frustrated are words you could use to describe Bobby Brown's current mood. As soon as he arrived home from school his mood began. First he was restless. In order to combat the restless feeling, he decided to clean his room.
He hoped to bring Mary up here tonight, to talk and cuddle. He looked around the room. He cringed. It was a big mess. Cleaning was not Bobby's thing, at all. Karate, soccer, history, music, adventure, the guys, and Mary... those were his thing.
Bobby started picking up the clothes from the floor. He threw the dirty ones in the clothes hamper. He hung the clean shirts up and folded the clean pants. Clothes finished, he moved on to making up his bed. After that was done, he straightened the various objects on his desk and shelves. Karate trophies turned facing forward, Atari game wires tucked away (it would be bad if Mary tripped on one), beer cans tossed out, cassette and VHS tapes put in the correct baskets, pillows returned to his window seat... this is best his room's looked in a long time.
Now for the bathroom. Maybe he could persuade one of his sisters to clean it. With that in mind, Bobby went to Sam's room first. She laughed in his face and said, "You are nuts. I don't even clean my own bathroom. Now get out!" She slammed the door in his face. He didn't know why he even bothered asking her.
Brat!
Then he went to beg his favorite sister, Sara. Bobby thought she could be persuaded with candy and whatever toy 10 year old little girls played with. Sara agreed to help him clean the bathroom, if he bought her a new Lisa Frank notebook ("it has to be the one with the two dogs at the beach eating an ice cream") and a new Caboodle ("I have to have another one to organize my scrunchies and plastic charms for my necklaces").
Once he agreed to both, Sara went downstairs to get cleaning supplies. She cleaned the whole bathroom, while Bobby watched. Although she did make him clean the toilet. "I do not do toilets, especially gross boy ones."
After all of this was done, he had well over an hour left. With a fresh shirt on and cologne sprayed, he was eager for Mary to arrive. So, he went downstairs to watch TV. Clicking through all the channels, there was nothing interesting to watch. Not even on MTV, which he loved.
Thinking of what he could do, to pass time, lead him to straight to Jimmy's house. Jimmy was finishing up his homework. Bobby sorted through the massive music collection, while he waited. He spotted a new Aerosmith album and ... The Bangles.
What the heck?
When he questioned his friend about this choice, Jimmy stated "What man? The chicks play all their own instruments. It's cool." They then went to shoot some pool and talk about that evening. When Bobby looked at his watch, it was almost time for his girl to arrive. He said goodbye and eagerly headed home.
The minute he walked through the front door, his mother requested him to go pickup the desserts she ordered. To which Bobby replied "Why can't Dad do it?" Clearly that was the wrong response, because his calm mother gave him "The Mom Look". Back out he went, to get the dumb desserts. When he arrived at Me, Myself, and Pie the desserts were not ready.
Now Bobby was frustrated. He wanted to be home when Mary drove up. Evidently that wasn't happening. So, he plopped down onto a chair and waited, and waited, and waited. He was just about to lose his cool, when the pie lady brought out the creamy confections. Finally he could go home.
He pulled into his drive and noticed Mary's Jeep already there. He hoped she hadn't been there long enough for his sisters, and mother, to embarrass him. As soon as he sat the pies down, he received an armful of Mary.
