The Team, Loki, and I all walked down the hallways of the helicarrier, nervous as I've ever been. This morning, Fury had called us, practically demanding that we come down and debrief on what happened. Honestly, I just wanted that to be buried, hidden under happier things. I had only had a few nightmares since I had woken up, because Loki has been sleeping in my room. For some reason, just having someone there was enough, but not quite. I still didn't want to go down that path, not with those memories so fresh in my mind.
"Hill and I will talk to each of you one at a time." Fury says. "The rest of you can watch through the glass. You all went through it, and I want the facts straight." I nod. "Coulson and his team already gave us their side, along with Thor before he left for Asguard." Fury looks over at me. "Sophie, we've decided it would be best if you went last." I nod and flop down in a chair, gazing into the room.
This was just perfect. I didn't realize that they would all be able to hear what I was going to say. I didn't want to burden them with this. "I'll go first." Murmurers Bruce.
Bruce, Tony, and Steve all have the same story. They were watching the presentation through a camera on Nat, and May came by the place they were staying and explained what had happened. They were then taken to the bus, met up with the others, and figured out how to get me out. Straight and to the point.
Nat and Clint's story was a little more complicated. They had been the two out in the field, attending parties, sneaking through the air ducts, getting into places the shouldn't be, the usual. They had found out that Fuller was coming after me and told Fury, who sent Phil's team down. They had thought that everything was okay because Fury had ordered Skye to hack Jarvis and put all the cameras on a loop of different things Loki and I were doing. Fury got yelled at for that, which was amusing in itself. Nat and Clint explained the plan a little better. Clint, Nat, Loki, and Steve were all in the building looking for me while Tony and Thor drew everyone out and kept them out. It was somewhat of a last minute plan, but they had wanted to get me out of there. Bruce wasn't going to even leave the plane unless something went horribly wrong.
Then came Loki's debriefing.
"I was walking down the hallway where Sophie's room was, when I felt something prick my neck. I had been shot with a dart-"
"The others said they were gassed." Fury interrupts. Loki gives Fury a look that clearly says 'are you serious' and then rolls his eyes.
"Since I was on the same floor Sophie was and where they needed to go, they most likely didn't want to gas that floor." He says in a monotone voice. Even though they had worked out some sort of truce, the tension between them was so thick you could cut it with a knife. "I, being of frost giant origin, it had little affect on me. I advanced, but enough of their darts hit me to render me unconscious." He says. "I was awoken by that woman scientist, and figured out that they had taken Sophie." Hill is writing on her notepad like she had for the others. "We then spent the next few weeks tracking her down." He glares pointedly at Fury. "Even though you could have informed us of where she was the moment she was taken."
"We couldn't know exactly." Fury says, and Loki scoffs.
"Anyway, we eventually found her, and you know what happened from that point." Loki goes to stand.
"Bring Sophie in." Fury says, making Loki glance back at the glass, his eyes going straight to mine even though he couldn't possibly see me through the mirror on his side. I feel the others gazes on me as I slowly stand, brushing imaginary dust off my pants in an effort to stop the shaking in my hands. I take a deep breath before walking towards the door. It opens right as I go to open it, and Loki pauses before hugging me quickly.
"Be brave." He whispers in my ear before pecking my forehead and walking into the room. I slowly walk into the room and sit across from Fury and Maria, who gives me a quick smile.
"Start from the beginning." Fury says, and I smirk.
