"Listen, Midguardian." the voice snaps. I turn towards the voice and gasp. Standing in front of me was a Frost Giant. I stumble back, but I hit the opposite wall.
"You're a Frost Giant." I say quietly, eyes wide. My gaze darts towards the food court, filled to the brim with innocent people.
"Oh don't worry little hero." He says in his deep voice. "I'm not here for them. They are safe, for now, and as long as you cooperate." What? I try to dart away, but he grabs my arm. The sudden cold makes me cry out in pain, but no one turns our way. Could no one see him? He was blue. And giant for petes sake! His grip tightens, and Pain laces up my arm. Around where he has his hand, my skin is turning blue and black, immense cold cutting down deep. It feels like it is burning with cold.
"Now listen carefully." He says. I can feel my body trying to battle the cold seeping in, but I can't even heat up a little. It's making all my systems shut down. I can barely feel my arm. A tear of pain slips out, and he notices. "Ah, that hurts? Good. Cant have you dying though." his grip loosens, keeping a hold of my sleeve. "You and your little team are holding my son, already have defeated his pathetic attempts to rule this wretched planet."
Loki? What? But he said his father was dead. That he killed him! "Ah, he has spoken of me." He saw the recognition in my eyes. "My son can't take over this place, let alone kill me like he thought. All he is is a mistake. A monster like me." I want to snap so badly, but I refrain. I don't know what will happen if he gets angry.
"You will deliver this message. Listen closely, little Midguardian, I will not repeat myself." He leans in closely, and I can feel his cold breath on my cheek. "I was waiting for this news, that my son loves something, and now, I can get my revenge." Anger flashes in his blood-red eyes. "I am going to destroy him in every way possible. Starting with his lover. I am going to kill her slowly in front of him, followed by everyone he cares about. His brother. His mother. Everyone. Even your pitiful little team. And then, I will kill him." He hisses the end.
"This next part is important." He says. "Still listening little Midguardian?" I give a shaky nod, my teeth chattering. "The second I leave, my illusion leaves with me." So that's why no one has seen this. "You will deliver that message immediately, and if I were you, I'd pray to the gods for your safety." He looks down and chuckles darkly. "And your arm. Now, run little one, run." He lets go and takes a step away before vanishing.
Warmth leeches back into the air, and I realize just how much I'm shaking. Just how cold I am. Everything in the last ten minutes is all moving fast in my head, and I stumble out of the small hallway, making a beeline for Pepper. I feel stares on me as I half run towards Pep.
"Hey, are you alright? That looks serious." I guy stops me, and I force out a smile.
"It's just special effects makeup. I'm on break from a short film." I lie. He nods. "It's really good. Sorry for stopping you, but you did look hurt." I give a forced smile.
"Special effects, huh?" I say. "But now I've got to get back." I push around him rather rudely, stumbling slightly. I make it the last twenty steps to Pepper before collapsing in the chair. She takes one look at my arm, and her eyes go wide.
"What-"
"Pepper, we have to leave. Now." I say quietly but firmly, panicked. I try to reach for my phone, but with no feeling in one arm, and instant pain if I move my other arm away from the frost bite makes it so I can't.
Pepper scoops up our dozen bags with one arm, and helps me up with the other, letting me lean on her. We start walking quickly, ignoring the few looks we get as we go along, sticking close to the walls. By the time we reach the car, I'm shaking violently, teeth chattering together almost painfully. She starts the car.
