Loki's POV~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"What Sophie has right now is something like muscle memory. She can walk around the tower without getting lost, can even tell you where to go, but doesn't know how she knows it." Bruce explains.
"And she has remembered a few small memories, which is quite promising." Simmons adds on. Fitz nods.
"So we know that she will get her memories back. Just not all at once." He says. Fury nods absentmindedly. "And... possibly not all of her memories." He adds quietly and regrettably.
"What?" I ask, looking up quickly. They hadn't said a thing about this.
"Amnesia is... tricky." Simmons says carefully. "We're lucky that she's getting any memories back. Some people never get any memories back, and some people lose all of their memories, not just a limited amount." I sigh and lean back, swallowing the lump in my throat. I thought after she remembered the frying pan incident that she would begin to remember more. And she had, just... nothing with me.
"She still doesn't remember becoming an agent, just so you know." Coulson says. Fury nods once.
"Thor is still on Asgard." Fury comments. Thor had left for Asgard to look for someone or something to help cure Sophie's amnesia. Mother was helping him as well. "Right now, the most pressing matter is getting Sophie back to normal." Fury continues. "But Coulson, I need you and your team to go on a few missions."
"Sir, I don't think that would be wise." Simmons says quickly. "Sophie looks up to him as a father figure. I'm ninety percent sure that he is the only one she trusts fully, and taking that away might not be the best thing for her memories."
"It isn't the decision I would choose, but it was either Coulson's team, or Romanoff, Barton, and Rogers. She already trusts Coulson, and therefore his team as well. She needs to trust her teammates."
"Fury-"
"No." He says, glaring at us. "I hate to do it, but I have to. I need you out in the field. When you're finished with the mission, you can come straight back." Fury glances around the conference table. "Where is your hacker, anyway?" He asks.
"She's still at the tower with Sophie and Melody. She offered to stay behind and help." I say quietly.
"Right. How is the baby?" Fury asks awkwardly. "Two years ago I was trying to stop you from taking over the planet, and now I'm asking you how your baby is." Fury says, shaking his head tiredly. I chuckle lightly.
"She's perfect as always." I reply.
"Let's just hope that they are like we left them. Alive. Who knows with those three?" Tony says.
Sophie's POV~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"But I don't know how to stop a baby crying!" I half yell. Skye looks at me with the same frustration I had.
"Well neither do I!" She yells back. Melody's cries become slightly louder, and we both wince.
"You're older!" I yell.
"Only by a year!" She responds. "You're closer to the kid's age!"
"Only by a year!" I counter back. "I'm Twenty one! At least, that's what they tell me." I say, looking down at my feet and growing more frustrated by the second.
"Look, can you just try?" Skye asks. "I've tried before and it never works out. You haven't tried yet, maybe she'll get quiet for you." She looks at me pleadingly.
