Nate sat at his desk with the Omnitrix plugged into his laptop. He had accessed the code and tried to change things around when his laptop started sparking.
Nate: Whoops.
Gwendolyn shouted from downstairs.
Gwendolyn: Nate, you're gonna be late. Hurry up.
Nate: Coming.
He grabbed the laptop and threw it under his bed. He then took his bag and went downstairs.
Kevin: Hey, kid. You alright to come by the shop after school? I got something for you.
Nate: Another car?
Kevin: No... that car is all you need.
Nate: Well, actually, I'm meeting up with some friends after school.
Gwendolyn: Friends?
Nate: Don't act so surprised, Aunt Gwendolyn.
Gwendolyn: No, that's good. It's healthy for you to have friends. Really, we were your dad's only friends.
Kevin: Yeah, cause all the other kids knew how annoying he was before it was too late.
Nate: Yeah, so, I'll come by after.
Kevin: Sounds good.
Gwendolyn: Before you go, Nate. I'll be gone for a while. I'll be in Ledgerdomain refocusing with Hope, so communication will be down. I'm trusting the both of you to be okay. Okay?
Nate: Okay, Gwendolyn. We'll be fine, right, Uncle Kev?
Kevin: Absolutely.
Nate: I'm gonna go to school now. I'll see you soon, Aunt Gwendolyn.
Gwen: Bye, Nate.
Kevin: See ya later, kid.
Nate left the house and got into his car.

Nate was at his locker when he saw Courtney and Rick walking through the hallways. He shut his locker door and started walking with them. Yolanda and Beth also started to walk with them. They were interrupted by Cindy knocking into the group while walking past.
Cindy: Watch where you're going. Losers.
She continued walking down the hall.
Courtney: Why is Cindy Burman so mean?
Yolanda: She's always been like that.
Beth: No, I remember in elementary school she was a lot nicer.
Nate: Being any kind of nice at all is nicer than Cindy Burman now.
Beth: But, then her mom died and her dad got remarried. Twice, actually. And overnight, she became the scariest kid in the fourth grade
Courtney: Her mom died?
Rick: That's no excuse. She's just a horrible person.
The bell rang.
Beth: So, six more hours, then JSA time!
Rick: Great. Say it louder.
He walked away through the hall.
Yolanda: Meet here after?
Beth: I can't wait.
They also walked away.
Nate: I'll see you later then.
Courtney: Yeah, see ya.
He stood around awkwardly for a while and then walked away.
