jeongin was awaken by the ray of sunlight that crept into his room through his window, directly hitting his face. he groaned and rubbed his eyes, then suddenly he remembered the plans he had today.

his eyes shot open. today was the day he was going to see chan after 3 years. he was quite nervous. a lot of things have changed since then so he didn't know what he was going to face to chan.

but nevertheless, he took his time to get ready. brushed his teeth, took a shower, wore a comfy but cute outfit. he went downstairs and was greeted by his parents, who had made him his favorite crepes.

"morning...mom, dad" he greeted as he was handed the crepe.

"good morning son" they both said one after the other. the two tried their best to conceal their excitement but to jeongin, it was obvious how much it meant to them.

"do you have anywhere to be today?" mrs. yang asked.

"mhm, meeting up with an old friend. i'll be quick" jeongin replied.

"no no it's okay, take as much time as you need sweetie" his mom smiled.

"oh okay! anyways, i gotta go now. do you guys want anything?" he said as he stood up and put the empty plate on the sink.

"no dear" his dad replied.

"alright, bye! love you both" jeongin waved goodbye before leaving through the front door.

his guardians weren't used to receiving these words from jeongin, but they definitely weren't complaining. the boy has just been really grateful for the two. for taking him in, treating him as their own, and they never saw him as a nuisance. he felt lucky to have such understanding and accepting parents, just like his first ones.

jeongin made his way to the stone cafe and to his surprise, chan was already there. seated at the same spot they sat 3 years ago. he observed the place silently, not much has changed. he looked back at chan who smiled before standing up to give him a hug.

"innie...i missed you"

"i missed you too chan, how have you been?"

"i've been doing okay, much better now that you're here again" he gave jeongin a smile.

"chan, you know you don't have to do this right?"

"do what?"

"wait for me. you've been waiting for 3 years chan. aren't you tired?"

"for you, i will never get tired"

"chan..." jeongin shifted in his seat uncomfortably.

"i just want things to work out jeongin, i don't wanna loose you" chan felt weak, his voice almost gave up on him.

"and you won't. chan, things may have changed but that doesn't mean i'll walk out of your life. i'll always be here" jeongin said, letting out a small smile.

the two boys talked for an hour or so, catching up on things. it was a little awkward with some conversations but for the most part, they were just really curious on how the other was doing.

"i'll go now, will you be okay?"

"i will be" chan smiled.

"thank you, my firefly" jeongin said before turning away to finally leave.

jeongin made his way to the cemetery to visit his parents, whom he hasn't visited in 3 whole years. he sat by their gravestone while munching on crisps.

"i hope you guys are proud of me...i'm okay now...i'm happy" he smiled up to the sky. this time, there was no pain left in his heart. he had let everything go.

"i still miss you guys, but we'll meet in time."

"right now...i just, wanna continue being happy"

"...i deserve it, mom, dad"
