timeskip to 3 years later...

beomgyu clung onto jeongin like a leech in the airport. both boys were sobbing at the fact that jeongin had to go back home. but beomgyu was in fact korean, so jeongin comforted him by saying he could visit any time soon.

"shhh please don't cry, it makes me guilty i have to leave you" jeongin rubbed circles on the back of the boy in his arms.

"i'm sorry" beomgyu sniffled.

"darling don't be sorry. i'll miss you so so much and i thank you for everything"

"thank you as well, for being there for me. please don't forget me"

"i never will!! and please come visit during the holidays"

beomgyu nodded holding out a promise symbol with his hands. both boys chuckled as jeongin ruffled his hands through his best friend's hair.

the gates were closing in 30 minutes so he had to leave eventually. giving beomgyu a last hug, a few tears falling down their faces, but it was less painful now. jeongin waved goodbye, beomgyu returning it. jeongin whispered a little 'goodbye canada' before turning around to go back home.

a lot of memorable things has happened to him in canada. he was able to heal from the pain and move on. he was truly grateful for the decision he made.

-

jeongin has now landed. he got his suitcases and bags, and waited outside his terminal. a few minutes go by and he hears, "jeongin! dear!" his aunt calls out to him and immediately runs to hug him. his uncle does the same.

"i missed you so incredibly much honey!" she said, starting to get teary eyed as she saw her nephew. he had now grown 5 inches to his height, making him much taller than before.

"you've grown so tall dear" his uncle said before engulfing him in another hug.

"i missed you guys a lot, i'm sorry i couldn't call as often, i was really busy with school" jeongin said, his aunt immediately shook her head.

"no dear it's okay, you did the right thing to focus on your studies. but come on now, let's get home!" she said. and the 3 walked together, looking like a complete family. jeongin was now proud of this family.

-

they were finally at home. the home he hasn't seen in 3 long years. he missed it dearly.

"go on darling, someone is waiting for you" his aunt said, making jeongin confused. who could it be?

he walked in to find hyunjin, jisung and minho, along with the house decorated baby blue balloons and food on the table.

"surprise!" they shouted in unison as jeongin walked in.

hyunjin immediately hugged him, picking him up off the ground and even spun him around.

"oh my, you grew tall innie baby!" hyunjin said, ruffling the younger's hair who just chuckled at him.

he walked up to the couple and gave them tight hugs as well.

"we missed you so much bubby" minho said, jisung nodding in agreement. it indeed had been a lot quieter without jeongin there.

"thank you guys, for all this. you really didn't have to but i'm so grateful" jeongin exclaimed. they had thrown a welcome home party for the boy. he couldn't have been more grateful that day.

they spent until sunset, talking and eating. playing games even. jeongin's aunt and uncles had been checking up on them, joining in once in a while as well. it was definitely a fun night.

but fun nights come to an end and the boys eventually had to leave, not without helping to clean up the place of course. then they left, saying goodbye to jeongin and his guardians.

ting***

the sound of a notification rang from his phone. he pulled it out of his pocket to see a text.

chan

hey, i heard you were back home?
do you wanna maybe, meet up
tomorrow?

sure chan :)

great! stone cafe?

mhm

alright see you there innie.

jeongin sighed. he was meeting chan after 3 whole years tomorrow. what was going to happen then? he didn't quite know. they did leave off on a confusing note, so he was hoping to clear everything now.

as he was about to go upstairs, he looked back at his guardians. smiled at them and said something that made them the most emotional yet.

"goodnight mom, dad. and thank you" he smiled once more before walking up at the stairs and into his room.

"honey...d-did he just..." his mom had his hand over her mouth in shock.

"yes he did honey, yes he did" his dad, who was also getting teary eyed replied.

jeongin thought, they were his legal guardians anyway. they basically adopted him just like how any other parent adopts a child. so he could definitely call them mom, and dad.
