"mom! dad! please don't go! don't leave me!" jeongin sobbed. he cried and cried, begging his unconscious parents to stay with him.
after 10 hours of pacing back and forth, crying in between, praying, the doctor had pronounced the couple...dead.
jeongin gasped and his eyes widened, he was now awake. he wiped the tears off his face and checked the time. 5:45 am, it was early, but too late to go back to bed. so the boy got up, took a shower and headed downstairs to make breakfast for him and his aunt and uncle.
cooking was something he liked doing to get his mind off of things. they had maids for that, but when jeongin wanted, he'd be the one to cook.
today, he decided to make his famous cauliflower fried rice. famous because everyone, including the maids in the household loved this dish of his.
he started off by seasoning the shrimp with all sorts of seasonings, then pan fried them with the onions and garlic. then he added in the rice and cauliflower. such a simple but tasty breakfast food.
he scooped some up and put it in a bowl for himself. the remaining was put in a separate container for the couple to have later on once they woke up. jeongin quickly ate up his breakfast, drank his favorite grape juice before heading out.
the boy walked into the campus more confident than ever, because of the outfit he had chosen earlier. he was wearing very ripped light washed jeans with fishnets on the inside, paired up with a light blue oversized cropped sweater. everyone had to admit, he looked cute as hell.
"hyungs!" he waved to jisung and minho, walking up to them with a smile.
"how are you bub?" minho asked while ruffling the youngers' hair.
"i'm okay, as usual" he responded, smiling to make it look as convincing as possible.
"of course you are" jisung giggled.
"well we'll see you later okay bub?" minho said as he tapped jeongin's shoulder and the couple walked off to who knows where doing who knows what.
jeongin was on his way to his next class. he walked through the almost empty hallways when suddenly someone pinned him against the lockers. it was bangchan.
"what the hell" jeongin said as he tried to escape the elder's grasp, but chan was far too strong.
"there's no escaping, slut" he smirked.
"what the fuck do you want from me" jeongin sternly said.
"i wouldn't suggest being too brave you whore. you think you could go around looking like a total slut? you like the attention don't ya?"
jeongin gulped and was starting to get really uncomfortable. he couldn't reply or get himself to speak up. he had gone weak.
"swear at me one more time and you're dead" chan threatened.
once he left, jeongin could finally catch a breath. he didn't like this at all, but he didn't know why he still had feelings for the elder.
"jeongin? are you okay? i saw what happened there" a boy approached him. this was hwang hyunjin.
he was another school hottie. a lot of girls and even boys were head over heels for him. he was only interested in boys though, but is currently single.
"yeah, i'm ok" jeongin responded, looking at the ground.
just then, hyunjin suddenly lifted his chin with his finger, and made jeongin look him directly in the eyes...
"tell me now, tell me you're okay" he said with concern in his eyes. concern which made jeongin feel safe. although, he could not respond. because he wasn't okay. what chan said had hurt him.
"it's okay to not be okay sometimes jeongin" hyunjin said and pulled the younger into a warm embrace, with the only intention of making him feel safe.
jeongin couldn't help but hug the older back. once they pulled away, the boy was able to look hyunjin in the eyes and whispered, "thank you", making the older nod in response.
timeskip to after class ~
jeongin was on his way home when he decided to stop by the cemetery to visit his parents since he hasn't been there in a month or so. he passed by a candle shop to buy a few candles to light.
"hey mom, hey dad" he sighed.
"i miss you guys..."
he paused.
"i want to see you guys again..."
he felt a tear prickled down his face.
"remember when i was often sad? you guys told me you were my fireflies, my light, my hope."
"but now that you're gone, i don't have my fireflies anymore. my world is constantly dark now..." he teared up even more.
he laid down on the warm grass and closed his eyes. absorbing the sound of nature surrounding him, just letting his tears flow.
the boy woke up from a brief nap, which he hadn't done in awhile. the boy was tired and it showed. he checked the time, 5:13 pm. his aunt and uncle should be expecting him by now, so he stood up and walked home.
"why are you late dear?" his uncle asked.
"i had to finish project, sorry uncle, aunt" he said before walking into his room.
at this point he was too numb to start crying again. so he just laid there on his bed, looking at the ceiling. he felt the pain, he wanted to cry, but he couldn't? the poor boy ended up forcing himself to sleep that night.
