Perseus

For the first time since arriving at the palace, I was alone.

I lay on the enormous bed in my room, staring at the ceiling.

Everything that had happened that day kept replaying in my mind.

The Olympians.

The trial.

Poseidon disowning me.

Tartarus swallowing me.

The strange world I had awakened in.

The Primordials.

Sekrit.

Chaos.

Eros.

And finally, the truth.

I was a Primordial.

I still couldn't completely accept it.

Chiron had once told me that the Primordials were the oldest beings in existence. Older than the Titans. Older than the Olympians. They were supposed to be the beings who watched over the Universe and maintained the balance between creation and destruction.

And apparently, I was one of them.

Not just any Primordial.

The youngest child of Chaos and Sekrit.

I laughed bitterly.

What kind of life was this?

Yesterday, I had been Percy Jackson.

Today, I was Perseus Nova Chaos.

A Primordial.

A prince of an ancient family.

I closed my eyes.

Tomorrow, Eros had said.

Tomorrow I would be crowned as one of them.

I didn't even know what that meant.

Eventually, exhaustion overwhelmed me.

I fell asleep.

The next morning, I opened my eyes with a smile.

For a brief moment, everything was normal.

I was back at Camp Half-Blood.

Annabeth was beside me.

Her arms were wrapped around me.

Grover was probably complaining about food.

Leo was making some ridiculous joke.

Jason and Piper were arguing about something.

Nico was sitting in the corner pretending not to listen.

Thalia was laughing.

Everyone was there.

Everyone was happy.

I smiled.

Then I opened my eyes fully.

The dream vanished.

The enormous room stared back at me.

My smile disappeared.

"Oh."

I sat up.

The memory returned all at once.

The palace.

Sekrit.

Chaos.

The Primordials.

I rubbed my face.
