Alpha
The battlefield had descended into chaos.
Soldiers clashed around me as I fought my way through the enemy ranks, keeping one eye on my team.
But something was wrong.
I couldn't find him.
I blocked an incoming strike and pushed the soldier backward.
"Beta!" I shouted. "Where is Zygon? He was supposed to help us deal with the enemy!"
"No idea, Alpha!" Beta called back while fighting three soldiers at once.
I frowned.
That wasn't like Zygon.
He was usually the first to appear whenever there was a battle.
I continued fighting, waiting for Perseus's orders and keeping a close watch on the team.
Then I heard it.
A scream.
Not an ordinary scream.
A scream filled with terror.
I turned.
And immediately understood what had happened.
Zygon was standing—or rather, what remained of him was standing—directly in front of us.
The person holding him was someone I recognized immediately.
I nearly groaned.
You've got to be kidding me.
Perseus.
Of course.
Zygon must have done something.
Something serious enough to make Perseus furious.
And judging by the look on our commander's face, this wasn't ordinary anger.
This was the kind of anger that made entire worlds disappear.
"Everyone!" I shouted. "Stand aside!"
The warriors immediately obeyed.
None of us were stupid enough to stand between Perseus and someone who had betrayed him.
Perseus's wrath exploded across the battlefield.
Anyone who tried to stand in his path was swept aside.
I watched silently as the enemy forces fell before him.
Within minutes, the battlefield had become eerily quiet.
The enemy surrendered.
No one wanted to continue fighting after witnessing what Perseus had done.
Then, just as suddenly as he had appeared, Perseus vanished.
I stared at the empty space where he had been.
I sighed.
"Beta."
She looked at me.
"You know what to do. You're in charge."
She nodded.
"I've got it."
I gave the remaining warriors one final look before disappearing in a burst of magic.
When I returned to the palace, I immediately noticed something strange.
The guards looked terrified.
I raised an eyebrow.
