Sekrit

Twenty minutes had passed, and Perseus still hadn't arrived.

The last I had seen of him was in the training hall with his new army.

At first, I hadn't been worried.

Then ten minutes passed.

Then fifteen.

By the twentieth minute, I was beginning to lose my patience.

I was just about to send someone to find him when the doors opened.

Perseus walked in.

Dresella came rushing in behind him, practically out of breath.

I raised an eyebrow.

Perseus immediately looked guilty.

"Sorry, Mother."

Dresella looked relieved to see him.

I sighed.

"At least you're here."

Perseus gave me an apologetic smile and took his seat.

Dinner continued peacefully after that.

Eventually, everyone retired to their rooms.

Everyone except Perseus.

I noticed him lingering near the dining hall.

"Mother?"

I looked up.

He seemed slightly awkward.

"If you don't mind... can I have a word with you?"

I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Perseus, you are my son. You don't need permission to talk to me."

I stood.

"Come. Let's take a walk."

He smiled faintly.

We left the palace and entered the gardens.

The gardens were one of my favorite places on the planet.

Chaos and I had collected rare flora and fauna from countless worlds over the ages. Some flowers only bloomed once every thousand years. Some trees could communicate through their roots. There were creatures here that existed nowhere else in the Universe.

Perseus looked around with fascination.

For a moment, he seemed less like a Primordial and more like the curious boy I had watched growing up from afar.

Eventually, we reached a stone bench.

We sat down.

Perseus was quiet for several seconds.

Then he finally spoke.

"Mother... there's something I've been wondering."

I turned toward him.

"If you're so powerful... and you're the wife of Chaos... why aren't you mentioned in stories like the other Primordials?"

I smiled sadly.

I had known this question would come eventually.

"Perseus, I'm the Primordial of all matter, mysteries, time, the future, snakes... and most importantly, secrets."

He listened carefully.

I continued.

"My realm is different from most others."
