Chapter Twelve: Meet Mom

Hours turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, for Jeongyeon and Nayeon's fake dating relationship it was going fine regardless of the beef between them, although it was not anything serious— the endlessly teasing and slapping each other's arm didn't stop (Even if Jeongyeon once came home with a huge angry handprint in her arm).

Not just real couples who experienced ups and downs because both girls— despite fake dating each other— do experience those. One of their experience were meeting Jeongyeon's parents— it was really not part of their plan but Jeongyeon has to go back to her hometown for a while with Nayeon following her like Jeongyeon's tail, although they're not homophobic, it was a chaotic dinner led by Jeongyeon's mom herself who likes Nayeon very much.

“Mom! This is my friend, Nayeon, she's staying here for a bit since she doesn't have a family to go home.” Jeongyeon pointed at Nayeon teasingly as the older woman throws her a single mean glance at Jeongyeon who's being so cocky.

“Oh my God! You're her girlfriend aren't you?” Jeongyeon's mom walks towards Nayeon, hugging her tightly and holding her cheeks, examining her body.

“N-No! She's just a friend, mom.” Jeongyeon defended, pulling away Nayeon from her mom before patting her head.

“Oh, don't be silly Yeon! Dahyun told me everything, she even sends me a picture of you and Nayeon that's why she's so familiar, oh dear you're such a lovely girl you're welcome in our home, let's eat dinner together!” Her mom claps her hand in happiness before going to the kitchen, preparing the food while leaving Nayeon and Jeongyeon dumbfounded.

‘Ugh, that loud tofu.’ Jeongyeon thought, reminding herself to call Dahyun later.

“Huh, so im your mom's number one person now, Yeon.” Nayeon emphasizing the word ‘Yeon’ as what her mother called her.

“Oh, fuck off Im.” Jeongyeon scoffs.

‘Eating dinner together should be peaceful’ Jeongyeon thought positively, it turns out that dinner is another word for telling Jeongyeon's autobiography.

From Jeongyeon's first time tasting her favorite chocolate drink to Jeongyeon's first successful engineering project thesis, she told everything to Nayeon and for the latter, she was extremely interesting hearing something from Jeongyeon (Even though Jeongyeon didn't tell it all by herself) She gained information and ideas about Jeongyeon's background.

Time passed by as the two of them are laying on the couch, watching random shows on television while Jeongyeon's mom is washing the dishes.

“Where's your dad?” Nayeon asks, munching her favorite snack while looking at the television.

“He has work, he rarely comes home.”

“Oh, so mostly it's just you and your mom here?”

“Yeah, he just likes to come home if he wanted to or he has a break. I really don't know why his job is got to be so busy to take him away from us.” Jeongyeon ranted, secretly taking a piece from Nayeon's snack before biting it.

Although Jeongyeon doesn't have a broken family, the lack of her father's attention made her feel like she doesn't have a complete family.

“Yeon! I prepared you both some midnight snack~ Here is some nachos and cheddar cheese, also I brought you your favorite chocolate drink!” Jeongyeon's mom echoed in the room, making Jeongyeon faced palm for how her mom made her look like a baby.

“Mom, im not baby anymore.” Jeongyeon pouted but her mom pecks her a kiss on the forehead.

“I know, but now you have a girlfriend, she's the one who owns you now so you're Nayeon's baby now— And you Nayeon-ah, if you ever hurt or broke my Yeon's heart, I'll lay hands on you remember that.” Her mom said and playfully pulls off her slippers to show Nayeon who's trying not to laugh because of Jeongyeon who feels irritated and uncomfortable with her mom shipping them both.

“Mom, you're embarrassing me.”

“I know honey~ So Nayeon will love you even more.” Her mom answered as Jeongyeon pout, she pecks a kiss on Jeongyeon's forehead again before walking away.

“Your mom really likes me.” Nayeon tease, slapping Jeongyeon's arm and laughing her ass off.

“Oh shut up! I'll swear I'll cover your mouth with duck tape.” Jeongyeon said before taking her chocolate to drink it.

Although Nayeon always teased her a lot, it makes her heart softened for how Jeongyeon and her mom have a great bond, maybe she can see that Jeongyeon is irritated around her mom but deep down inside, Nayeon can feel that Jeongyeon just loves her mom.

‘I'll make sure to write it down in my notes.’ Nayeon thought.
