S1E1: Who Do You Think You Are?
Lady Heather Button lay, quite literally, on her death bed. In a house that had served many generations of the Button line (with all of its diversions) the last living full blooded Button had reached the end of her time, all alone for the past 18 years. Unknown to the woman, several ghosts crowded around her bed, waiting for her last moments. Her daughter stood awkwardly to the side, watching her mother's last breaths was rather disconcerting after all. Having spent her years watching over her mother, wearily watching the desolation of the house she had loved and hated, it made her feel... weird in a sense. Goosebumps settled on her skin, or as much as a ghost could get goosebumps.
"It won't be long now." Julian said to the quiet room.
"She had tremendous innings." The Captain added in agreement.
"At least she's comfortable." Fanny said, hands clasped in front of her as she watched the last of her relatives.
"Yeah, there are worse ways to go." Humphrey commented, being held in by his body. Murmurs of agreement arose from Pat and Thomas, both gesturing to their wounds.
"Well, this is it." Mary commented, placing a hand to her throat.
"You're telling me!" Pat answered.
"You can say that again." Fanny gave them a look.
"Shh." Kitty gasped. "I think it's happening."
"Stand by." Captain ordered. "Shh."
Heather took her last breaths, chest falling until it stilled. A bright glow encased the body as her soul started to rise. The ghosts gathered together at the end of the bed, watching the Button rise.
"I think she's going."
"Oh, I do hope she stays." Kitty spoke, hands meeting the fabrics of her skirt.
"Tenner says she stays." Julian whispered to Robin.
"Deal." The two nodded, before focusing on the remaining Button.
"I can't see anything. Can you lift me up a bit?" Humphrey questioned, his body lifting him only to drop him on the ground. "Oh, not this again."
Heather's spirit started to raise out of her body, spotting the ghosts crowded around her with a slight shock. "Who are you?" Heather questioned, her eyes met Lucille's. "Luce?" The girl attempted a smile, hand rubbing her neck in a futile attempt to hide the red lines stretching across the skin.
"I am the ghost of your great great grandmother." Fanny explained, taking the woman's attention from her daughter. Lucille took a small sigh of relief.
"We are those poor spirits who dwell on, compelled for reasons unknown-" Heather, not sparing another look towards any of them, moved on and disappeared in minutes. "Ah, she's gone."
"Lucky cow."
"Good on her, actually." Pat said kindly. Lucille nodded in agreement, at least she wouldn't have to spend the rest of her afterlife with her mother.
"What's going on? All I can see is shoes." Humphrey complained.
"You owe me ten." Robin told Julian.
"Oh, no, no. If you listened to what I actually said..." Julian tried to get out of it, with his well practised tactics.
"I can't believe you bet on whether my mother was going to stay." Lucille grumbled, giving the politician a slight glare. Julian held his hands up with a shrug simply stating 'what else could I do?' which made the girl roll her eyes in response.
