S3E2: A Lot To Take In

The Ghosts gathered into Alison and Mike's room to help Mike get ready for his first day at his new job. Whilst it was more Alison doing the actual helping, the others were more than happy to talk and have Alison translate for them.

"Now, the hare hops around the tree." Captain instructed, trying to help Mike do his tie.

"Now, the hare hops around the tree." Alison translated for him.

"And then she's startled!" Captain jumped as he said this. "She jumps into the hole."

"And then she jumps into the hole." Alison made a motion with her hand to try and show Mike what to do.

"Put smoke in hole, wait with spear." Robin said.

"Robin." Lucille sighed, shaking her head at him.

"Put smoke in- No." Alison started, realising what Robin was saying. "Sorry. No, that's not... no."

"Oh!" Mike groaned, undoing his tie. "I'm just going to do a school knot."

"Not a proper knot, mate." Pat commented.

"Are you stressed?" Alison asked, placing her hands on his shoulders and rubbing them. "Don't be stressed. You can always go back to the gooseberry farm."

"Well, you weren't there when I left."

"Hmm. Just think of the gate house. I'm very proud of you." Mike started to redo his tie. "Okay?"

"Aw! I remember my first day at the bank. Terrible tummy ache." Pat said.

"Yes, my first day as CO, I must admit I had some butterflies." Captain added.

"First time hunt mammoth, me be bricking it." Robin chuckled, rubbing a hand over his furs.

"What about you, Julian?" Captain asked.

"Me?" Julian fiddled with his tie. "Well, can't say I've ever suffered from first day nerves."

"It's a bit short." Alison told Mike, looking at his botched tie.

"Oh. That's how I used to do it in school." Mike answered.

"That explains so much, yet so little." Lucille turned back to the other ghosts.

"Oh, yes. What about school?" Pat questioned.

"What, Harrow? Nah! It was like a second home. Well, third home. We had a second home. Fourth, if you count the one in Provence."

"Counting the one in Provence."

"University and so on?" Fanny questioned.

"Er, same boys, really." Julian said.

"Surely, the first day in parliament must have been-"

"Again - same boys, really." Julian interrupted Captain.

"So, you're saying you've never been in a situation where you felt out of your depth?"

"Nah. Not that I can recall." Julian answered, frowning as he tried to think of a time.

"Can't relate." Lucille muttered under her breath.

"Alison, if I may, since Michael is at work today, I wondered if you might like to accompany me for a turn about the grounds?" Thomas asked as they walked down the staircase.

"Actually, I can't because... um-" Alison started to say.

"Alison is spending the day with me today. Thomas." Kitty explained. "Dancing. She promised."
