S3E5: Something To Share?

"Ah! She's here! She's up here now!" Mary exclaimed, causing everyone to rush into position as they crowded around the kitchen table in order to surprise Kitty for her birthday.

"Okay, everyone, shh, shh!" Alison gestured for them all to quiet down as they heard Kitty's humming as she got closer to the kitchen. She stepped into the room.

"Happy birthday!" They yelled.

The yelling had startled Kitty but it turned into a squeal of surprise. "Gosh! This is the best birthday ever!"

"We haven't done anything yet." Pat said through his smile.

"I thought, as a special treat tonight, we could watch your favourite film." Alison told her.

"Wizard of Oz!" Kitty squealed.

"Yeah!"

"Ah, Dorothy..." Captain sighed.

"Now, come on, let's get on with it, shall we?" Fanny questioned.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Kitty, happy birthday to you." They all sang. Alison let off the party popper as Mike stepped through the door.

"Morning." Mike greeted, looking at the post.

"Morning. It's Kitty's birthday." Alison told him.

"Yeah, I heard."

"She's two hundred and-" She started laughing at Julian's comment. "Come on!"

"What?"

"Well, Julian said.... sorry, he's the one with no trousers."

"Yeah, I know which one he is."

"Well, he just said..." She cut herself off as Julian started complaining about being reduced to the 'pant-less one'. "No, no, I know there's more to you than that." She turned to Kitty. "Are you sure you need a cake? Because you can't eat it. Okay. Sorry, what was I saying?"

"Forget it." Mike told her.

"What? What?"

Mike sighed, crossing his arms. "I just wish I knew what you and your mates were saying sometimes."

"They're not my mates."

"Not my mates."

"Okay, but you'd have to fall out of a window and bang your head, and I can say from experience, that- No, I'm not saying we're not mates, just-"

"Opened the floodgates now." Lucille told her, placing her fingers in her ears as everyone who cared started complaining at Alison.

"Thank you, Lucille. Yes, I know that is what I said, but it's not what I meant." She turned to Thomas. "No, we are not more than mates, Thomas, either. Okay... No, Kitty, obviously - yes, of course, we're mates."

"Like I said, opened the floodgates." Lucille shrugged. "Also can you guys like stop shouting in my ears please? You know they're sensitive."

"That brings our meeting to a close. I have a quick announcement. We don't know whether we'll be back in the church hall next week, so we can check the website on the meetings list for details. Thanks everyone."

"Thank you." The ghosts all clapped the AA group.

"That was certainly more interesting than the knitting group." Thomas commented.
