S4E3: The Hardest Word

O0o~~o0O

Everyone stood still, staring at Alison as she heaved. She had not shouted at them like that before, and no one knew quite what to do. Lucille scratched behind her ear, staring a hole in the floorboards as her feet slowly started to sink down. Captain tugged at the sleeve of her jacket, still looking directly at Alison, to remind her that she should not float away from the issue at hand. Lucille reluctantly tugged her feet upwards, settling back at her normal height, though refusing to look Alison in the eye, instead staring at the wall behind her.

"Too upset... to cry." Kitty whispered.  Alison gave one more look at the ghosts before storming from the room.

"That might be the most she's ever told us off." Pat stated. The ghosts nodded in agreement, finally regaining their composure and moving to the living room.

"I've just never seen Alison so angry. She used a word I've never heard before as a verb and a noun." Kitty mumbled.

"Yes, was rather colourful. I mean, I did some awful things back in the day, but I have never been rebuked like that - Oh, hang on, actually... there was this one time-" Julian responded.

"If you keep going that way, you'll walk out of the house." Lucille muttered to Humphrey's body as she guided him towards the doorway. He was usually quite good at knowing where the doors of the house were, but sometimes just needed a little bit of help. She was trying her best to tune out Julian's story and forget about the pure rage that Alison had portrayed towards them all.

"Turns out, the arms contract had been sold to the newspapers by one of the prostitutes." Julian concluded.

"Too confused to cry." Kitty stated.

"So, how do we make things right?" Pat questioned, eager to regain the peace of the household.

"Well, you'd have to refund the Libyans, find the prostitute-"

"With Alison!" Fanny interrupted.

"Oh!" Julian nodded.

"Well, is obvious." Robin stated. "We need say sorry, huh?" The Ghosts nodded in agreement.

"It should be Lucille who goes." Julian pointed at the girl curled up on the windowsill. She didn't give a verbal reply, instead opting to give a crude gesture.

"Lucille!" Pat admonished. "We know you're upset but you don't need to be doing that."  Lucille shrugged, resting her chin on her knee.

"Lucille, you are the best at appeasing dear Alison." Thomas commented, withering under the heat of her glare.

"If you think this can be sorted with a sorry, then I think you are sorely mistaken. Oh, and much less from a single one of us. If you remember, we were all responsible for Alison's rage." Lucille responded. "Now, leave me out of this until you come up with a better idea to quell Alison's fury." She turned her head so she was facing out the window.

"We have to be very careful." Julian continued on with the conversation, ignoring Lucille's mini-outburst.

"I'm just saying, if we want Alison to hear us out, we should send the person she likes the most." Pat pointed out.
