It was April Fool's Day, and the ghosts had come up with a "fantastic" way to get Alison. They would all hide from her and then when she least expected it, they would surprise her. Eagerly, they watched from behind the walls and curtains as Alison scurried from room to room looking for them all. Alison scurried back up the stairs to her bedroom, and Julian gestured for them to quickly follow her.
As Alison spoke to Mike, they all burst into the room, shouting: "Surprise!"
They hadn't really thought of what Alison's reaction would be, but bursting into tears certainly hadn't crossed their minds.
"Is she laughing?" Pat asked as Mike went to comfort her. "Are you laughing?"
"Clearly not!" Lucille exclaimed, turning to Julian and whacking him on the shoulder. "I told you it was a bad idea!"
"Don't blame me! It was Robin's idea!" Julian pointed at the caveman.
"Nuh-uh! You!" Robin crossed his arms, unhappy Julian was trying to put him under the bus.
"It doesn't matter who came up with it! We all did it!" Pat tried desperately to stop the outbreak of another argument between Julian, Robin, and Lucille. "It's April Fool's!"

The ghosts had shortly made their escape after Alison made her threats to "get them back" and scare them to "deathier death"; besides, it was time for their educational walk. Captain had decided to revigorate their mornings with a trail walk where he offered birdwatching and plant analysing - often being corrected by Pat.
"It was yellow!" Fanny continued to complain about whether one of the birds they had seen was a yellow finch or a greenfinch, she believed it had been yellow enough for a yellow finch, but Captain was adamant she was wrong. Pat had decided to stick out of this minor argument after both of them told him to shut up.
"The greenfinch is yellow, but not as yellow as a yellow finch."
"Oh, it's ridiculous. Who do I write to?"
They all saw Alison adjusting herself on the fence line, with a piece of broken fence attached to her chest. It was clear she was trying to trick them into thinking she had died as a way to get them back for their April Fool's Prank that morning.
"That the best you can do?" Julian teased.
"Nice try! Better luck next month!" Robin said.
"Oh, for the last time, there is no May Fool's Day!" Pat had been trying to educate Robin on it the entire morning - it was clearly not going well.
"She's gonna keep trying, and don't blame me when it happens." Lucille shrugged, skipping ahead of the rest of them. "Now, has anyone seen Humphrey?"
The ghosts headed inside, losing both Thomas and Kitty as they wandered off to do other things.
"It's perfectly simple. The brown one is the blackbird. The red and black one is a goldfinch. And the bluetit has a yellow chest." Captain reported smugly to a disbelieving Pat.
"Right. I'm just- I'm just saying - you know where you are with a sparrow." He pointed out the window towards the sparrow.
