I mindlessly flicked through the countless VHS tapes we had in the cabinet beneath the TV, I know damn right and well dad was supposed to return these years ago. I decided on Goonies because it had always been a childhood favourite and I remember Frank loved it too. I placed it in the slot and pressed play. "So when's your dad coming back?" I overheard Gerard say. He was talking to Frank. "He works out of town, should be back by December though." I could tell he realised what I was playing on the TV from his sudden pause. "Yes!"
Knock knock knock.
"Pizza." I got up and sped to the door, beating Frank. I opened it to see a kind lady holding our food. I paid her and took the food, handing it to Frank as I waved her off, closing the door. I spun back around and walked to the living room, flicking off the light as I joined the two on the couch.
I had a little bit of the pizza but weirdly enough I had stopped due to a swelling sensation in my tummy. I felt bloated yet I had no more than three bites. All of a sudden, my stomach churned and I stood up. "Be right back." Is all I could say before I rushed to the bathroom. I fell to my knees before the toilet just in time for a crap ton of vomit to come spewing from my mouth. Gross. Oh god the taste. It burned the back of my throat as I got the last of it up. I felt so dizzy, I needed air. But first I needed to clean my face. I stood up, wiped my mouth with toilet paper before throwing it into the toilet which I solemnly refused to look at. I put the lid down and flushed. I then washed my face with cool water and rinsed my mouth out. I patted my face dry and stepped out. "I'm gonna take a breath." I said, panting lightly. The boys nodded, Gerard giving me a concerned look. I walked out onto the porch and the cold air somewhat comforted me. Why not go on a walk. No one was gonna see me in this onesie anyway. I was on the pavement before a familiar face cut around the corner of my house. Remington?
"Y/n, you need to come with me." He spoke sternly.
"It's late, you should be home-" I blurted, confused as to why he was still here. He held my wrist firmly but not rough enough to hurt me. "You need to follow me." He looked me dead in the eyes. He started to lead me into a clearing in the small wood area near the park. We got there faster than I had thought. He sat me down and opened his mouth to talk.
"You know you've been bitten don't you?" Remington asked. I felt on my neck for the plaster, it was still there... how did he know? "Yes?" I gulped. "You're a vampire, tomorrow your heart will stop completely and you will begin descent." He sounded crazy but something made me want to believe him. "Descent?" I asked. "You will need blood... to drink and your fangs will come in, you'll be sensitive to sunlight so that's why I brought this." He dug in his pocket for something. How can he brush off the fact I had to drink blood. How did he know this much? "Here." He handed me an identical ring to his. "Trust me, I'll keep you supplied with what you need, it's only fair." I slid the ring on. "Whoa-whoa what?" I asked, referring to what he meant by 'it's only fair'. He took a deep breath.
"I am a vampire, I'm the one who turned you. When I met you I could smell death. You were ill. Not just that, I had a bad feeling... don't hate me but when you went home I followed you. When you went to sleep you were going to die." He explained, confusing me. "Die? What! Explain." I frowned. "The guy's friends, they were at the party, and when they found out you were there they were going to attack you. They were intoxicated so they probably could've killed you, not to mention your ribs." "How do you know this much?" I shook my head. He went silent. "Look, I just do. Ok?" "So what do you mean by blood?" I felt a little sick. "I have blood, from animals." "Animals?" I cocked my head in question. "We get it from the butcher." He shrugged nonchalantly.
My heart started to race but... the opposite. It slowed yet I was exhausted. I tried taking a breath but seemed to fail. Remington's eyes widened as he came over to me and held me gently to stop me from jolting. "Shh, let it happen, it hurts a little but it'll get better. This is the painful bit, this is gonna get better, trust me." He held me gently. I felt my blood physically pause in my veins. My heart had stopped completely and when I breathed, it seemed the same. The oxygen was getting to my lungs but there was no need to pump any blood anymore so nothing really happened. My whole body ached and my mouth felt funny. "There you go, easy, doll." He stroked my face gently. "You need rest." Remington spoke. My voice was weak but I managed a "I can't go home like this." Rem was about to say something but paused. "Rest, I'll take you home in a little, they won't even know you're back." I would've been cold in the thin onesie I was in on this cold October night but I figured I wasn't because of being... you know... dead.
