Violence warning. Chapter 1/3
Night had fell, Mikey and Frank had passed out on the couch, taking all the space so Ray, Gerard and I resided down in the basement, putting lyrics from my books into orders with song names. "Guys, I'm exhausted." Gerard spoke up. "Me too." I sighed, acting like the case was the same for me. "I'm gonna go to bed, you guys do whatever." He got up and stretched, cracking his neck and knuckles. "Ok, night." Ray smiled weakly and I just nodded towards him signalling that I meant to say the same.
"Wanna go on a walk, it's only 12am." Ray gently closed the book he was taking lyrics from and slotted the three sheets of paper that he'd wrote on in the top of the book. "Sure, Ray." I grabbed one of Gee's jackets and slid it on, unaware as to whether I could catch a cold as a vampire, probably not but I didn't want to risk anything. Ray followed suit, seeming as if he only did so because I did. I stood up and walked up the stairs to the door and slipped out into the cool hallway with Ray. We wanted to go through the back door since we'd have easier access to the woodlands, where I'd love to go. I unlocked the door and stepped out with the brown-haired boy, locking the door so the boys inside wouldn't get any unwanted visitors. I slipped the keys into the pocket of the jacket I was wearing and off we went into the woods behind Gee's house.
We had been walking in a comfortable silence for a while when Ray decided to speak up. "Y/n, can we talk for a quick moment?" He talked as if he was one of those kind receptionist ladies in school who pull you out of class for minor things. "Shoot." I smiled up at him. "Why did you have that thing on your neck before and why are you so defensive about having your neck bare?" He stood still, his eyes boring holes into where mine were, his hands clasping mine with a vice grip.
"You're bitten too... aren't you?"
Those words made a pang in my heart erupt. He knew. But it took me a second to realise what he meant by 'you're bitten too'. "What? Who bit you?" I frowned, Remington wouldn't dare do that, would he? "I don't know!" He ran stressed fingers through his long locks. "I woke up and it was there, that's when I noticed I was dead." He pulled my hand to his chest, trying to prove his heartbeat had disappeared, but I already believed him. Maybe I could ask Remington, but where to find him?
"Come with me." I clasped his hand tighter and we made way towards the park he seemed to like being in. We walked through the dense trees and my eyes set on the cemetery, I knew we were close. I smiled and started marching faster over the grass. I was absolutely delighted to see his slim figure sat down on his signature bench. I started to jog, pulling the boy with me. I felt slightly embarrassed when, the closer I got, the less it started looking like Rem. The man noticed me, and as he turned to me...
It was him.
It was Drew. He sat there like he knew I was there, like he could sense me. His eyes flicked to Ray and they studied him closely. As if in deep thought and denial. He stood up and just then I remembered how tall and intimidating his physique was. I let go of Ray's hand and he, too sensed the tension, thick as meat.
"Y/n, doll. Who's this, why's he smell funny? Did you bite him?" He was now no more than a foot in front of me. "No, why?" I murmured, he seemed disappointed. His eyes moved back to the quivering Ray beside me. "You... you smell different than she does. You smell darker." His blue eyes, angelic, yet deceiving, gleamed in the silver moonlight. "What do you mean, sir?" Ray's voice wavered, his fear evident. My hand slipped back into his, for milliseconds before Drew scoffed "no PDA." I let go again. "I'm sorry." I quickly uttered an apology before he supposedly squished me to death, or so I thought. "It's ok dear. Who are you looking for?" Drew questioned. He knew so much, it scared me. "A friend." I gulped. "A friend? Who other than you two would be out at this time?" He frowned. "His name is Remington." I spoke. The atmosphere dripped with venom. It was as if the moon stopped emitting light, the world went dark and the only light lit up his tense features. "Ah, Leith." He hissed. "How do you know him?" Drew leaned towards my cowering frame. "We met on this park actually. That's why I'm here." I raised a shaky hand to my mouth and nervously chewed on my short, brittle nails.
Without warning, the slender male gripped me by my throat. Was he trying to choke me? Could I choke if I was dead? My rhetorical questions were answered as he began to lift me. I used all the strength I could to peer to my side, shooting a pleading glance to Ray... if he was there. He wasn't. Ray was gone. I don't understand, how did we not hear him go? Why would he leave me? I looked back to the muscular man and he smirked down at me, watching the life? drain from my face. I didn't resist.
"P-please let go- I-I'll do whatever y-you say!" I choked out, my throat tight and sore. His grip loosened and instead he reached for my hair. I yelped almost silently, not wanting to aggravate him. He pulled me towards the graveyard, oh dear.
All I wanted in that moment was for Gerard's touch. I'd give everything just to be held by him, to be laughed at and pushed around by Frank, to be on Mikey's bed reading some comics we've already read before. But why did Ray leave? When I needed him most. And now I'm going to god knows where, with god knows who. What if he isn't who he says he is? And why was he so mad about Remington? They're both vampires and all but I'm sure there's no reason for it to be this bad. Great, now I was saying mental goodbyes, all for a walk. I should've just slept in bed with Gerard, walked out front instead of that stupid park with Ray. But now it was all over. For good. So much for being immortal and whatnot. This guy's one of the original vampires, I can tell. He for sure knows how to kill me off in the flip of a switch. This well and truly sucked.
