Alexis sat in a coffee shop. The cup in her hands warm and the coffee the perfect temperature. After everything that had happened, this was peaceful. Relaxing. It was strange how normal this felt. It could be any day right after rush hour. A kid typing quickly on their computer next to her. Well they looked like a college student and had a large reusable cup they kept drinking from. It reminded Alexis of who they were before all this started. She took comfort in that.
Alexis flinched as a hand was snapped in front of her face. "Earth to Alex."
"Oh, hey Vee. So you're finally here."
"Yep. You were really in your head, I only called your name three times before I snapped my finger."
"Sorry." Alexis looked at her coffee and took another sip. It was almost gone.
"Don't worry about it, I know you're like that. So, wanna have a movie night with the family this weekend?"
"Yeah. Oh how's Calvin doing?"
"He's taken to the family really well. We miss you Alexis."
"I know. I missed you guys too. I'll be home to stay soon I promise."
And she smiled her signature smile at them, and Vee smiled back.
Alexis could finally have the happy ending she deserved with the rest of her family.
