Betty
I walked back inside with Jeff following close behind.
"Alright kid. I ordered dinner. What do you want to watch tonight?" Danielle asked me.
"It doesn't matter to me." I shrugged.
"What's your favorite movie?"
"Practical Magic." I said with a small smile. I remember my Dad and I cuddling up and watching it every weekend.
"Practical Magic it is then."
*An hour later*
We were sitting on the couch eating the Chinese food that Danielle had ordered, waiting for the movie to start.
"How's your dinner?" Stefania asked.
"So good. Thank you guys for paying. When I get my first check I'll pay you back for everything."
"No you won't. Don't worry about it." Danielle put her plate down on the table and leaned back into the couch.
"But I want to."
"Don't worry about it B. Be a kid. Enjoy your paycheck."
I heard my phone ring, and I grabbed it.
"Hello?"
"Where the hell are you." My Mom said on the other side.
"I'm-I'm shooting on location for the next two weeks."
"So why the fuck aren't you home."
I started panicking a bit, I felt my breathing get faster.
"Betty! Answer me damn it!" She shouted.
I felt Danielle's hand on my back and and held her hand out for the phone. I handed it to her.
"Hi! Betty's Mom? This is Danielle. We work together. We let David know that we were going to be on location for the next two weeks."
I heard my Mom say something to her, and Danielle's face expression changed.
"I'm sorry ma'am. She won't be able to come home until we're finished shooting. It's part of her contract. But we'll make sure Betty is taken care of."
I heard my Mom yell about something.
"Yes ma'am. She'll be okay here." She handed the phone back to me.
"M-Mom?"
"When you get home, you're fucked." She hung up the phone.
"Are you okay?" Stefania asked.
"I'm screwed. I shouldn't have came. I-I need to go home." I got up and started pacing the floor.
"Betty, Betty. Calm down." Danielle stood up and walked over to me.
"You don't get it! She's going to kill me! I'm so screwed!" I bent over and put my hands on my knee's breathing hard.
"Betty, you're having a panic attack. Look at me baby girl. Look at me." Danielle took my face in her hands and made me stand up straight.
"Breathe with me. In, and out." She took a deep breath in, and let one out.
I followed suit, trying to breathe as easy as I could.
"It's okay. It'll be okay." She whispered to me.
"I'm scared." I whispered. I felt the hot tears running down my face.
"I know. But you don't need to be. I won't let anybody hurt you anymore, okay?" She pushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Why don't you go take a shower before we watch the movie. That always helps calm me down." Stefania suggested.
I nodded, and wiped the tears off my face.
"Go ahead sweetie. Yell if you need anything." Danielle kissed my forehead, and I walked into the spare bedroom to take a shower.
Danielle
"What did her Mom say?" Stefania whispered when Betty left the room.
"She said she never gave her daughter permission to go out and party. I explained that we had to work and it was part of her contract." I sighed as I sat down next to her on the couch.
"She seems terrible."
"She sounded terrible. She was definitely drunk. I just wish there was something else I could do." I put my head in my hands.
"Bambina you're doing everything you can." I felt her arms wrap around me.
"I know. I just wish I could do more." I felt the tears stinging my eyes.
"You're helping her. Who knows what they would've done if she went home tonight." Stefania kissed the side of my head.
"I know. I know." I sat up and wiped my face.
"Come here." She laid back on the couch, and pulled me to lay in between her legs.
I rested my head on her chest, closing my eyes and enjoying the comfort.
"You're an amazing woman, Danielle. That's one of the reasons I like you so much." I felt her play with the ends of my hair.
"I like you too. A lot. I don't know how you didn't catch on to it before." I said with a small laugh.
"Oh I did. I always knew. I just wanted to see how long it would take you to make a move." She joked.
"You knew? Since when?" I sat up.
"Since the second week of filming when I first came on set. I could tell. You don't hide your facial expressions very well."
"You knew for over a year and you didn't say anything?"
"Yep. I got impatient and I had to make the first move though." She kissed my cheek.
"That's so not funny. Do you know how much I was freaking out before every kissing scene between us?" I pouted.
"Oh I know. I thought it was funny."
"It so was not." I leaned and gave her a kiss.
"Danielle?" I turned and saw Betty standing there.
"What's up B?" I sat up on the couch.
"I think something's wrong." She said, her face was pale and she was obviously scared.
"What do you mean?" Stefania got up and walked over to her.
"I-I'm bleeding."
"Where?" Stefania started checking her arms and neck.
"Down there."
"Oh bambina. Your Mom didn't tell you about this did she?" Stefania asked.
"Tell me what? Am I gonna be okay?" She asked, her eyes welling up with tears.
"Let's go have a talk bella." Stefania took her hand and led her back into her room.
Betty
"So I'm not dying?" I asked.
"No bambina. It's perfectly normal. I'm sorry your Mom didn't tell you about this." Stefania reached over and took my hand.
"I'm sorry. I just got scared cause this hasn't happened before and-"
"You don't need to be sorry Betty. It's perfectly normal. Just use the pads that I gave you for now. It should only last a week. Maybe a little more or less."
"Thank you Stefania." I reached over and gave her a hug.
"You're welcome bambina. And if you need anything, you just let me know. Come on, let's go watch the movie."
