Chapter Forty-Seven

Two months later

"Hey kid. You ready?" Danielle knocked on the door.
"Almost. Come in Mom." I ran my fingers through my now fluffy hair. It had grown a couple inches the past couple months.
"Oh my God." Danielle's mouth fell open.
"You think she'll like it?" I smoothed down my wedding dress.
"She's gonna love it." Danielle walked towards me with tears in her eyes.

"Mom, don't cry. You're gonna make me cry." I waved my hands to fan my face.
"I can't help it. My baby's all grown up." She cupped my face and pressed a kiss to my forehead.
"I love you Mom." I whispered as I wrapped my arms around her waist. "Thank you for everything you've done for me."
"I wouldn't trade a second of it. Come on baby girl. Let's get you married."

We walked out of the room, hand in hand, as we met Stefania in the hallway.
"Bambina." Stefania had tears rolling down her face.
"Mamma." I hugged her tightly.
"You look beautiful." She whispered.
"Grazie Mamma."

I smiled as I heard the music start playing, signaling that Kaya was walking down the isle.
"Come on bella." She reached her hand down and took mine.

Stefania, Danielle and I walked to the entrance of the room, watching Barrett walk Kaya down the isle.
Jaina was standing in the front holding Rory, our sweetest flower girl.

The three of started walking as Kaya turned to face me, her face lit up in a smile as our eyes locked.
My beautiful, strong fiancé, had finally beat cancer.

We made it to the front of the chapel, and locked hands.
"You look beautiful." I whispered.
"You look radiant." Kaya squeezed my hand.

"We are gathered here, not to witness the beginning of what will be, but rather what already is! We do not create this marriage, because we cannot. ... With love and commitment, they have decided to live their lives together as wife and wife." Jason started.

"With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine." Kaya and I both said simultaneously as we slid our rings onto each other's fingers.

"By the power vested by me, I now pronounce you, wife and wife." He said with a huge smile.

Kaya and I stood frozen in our spots, smiling at each other.
"What are you waiting for? Kiss her!" Grey shouted from the audience.
I cupped my wife's face and pulled her in, closing the distance between our lips.

I wrapped my arms around her waist, picking her up and deepening the kiss.
Everyone cheered and clapped for us as we broke apart, smiling huge.

'This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)' started playing as we walked down the isle, now wife and wife.

"We did it!" Kaya exclaimed as she jumped up and down.
"We so did it." I grabbed her and hugged her tight.

I grabbed her hand and led her back outside, where everyone was waiting for us.

"Congratulations guys!" Jay hugged us both.
"Grazie, Uncle Jay." I said as I hugged him back.
"Thanks you for all being here. We couldn't have done this without you all." Kaya squeezed my hand.
"You know we wouldn't miss it for the world." Jaina told us.
"There's something else we have to celebrate though." I looked at Kaya.

"I got the results of my scans on Monday. I'm cancer free." Kaya said with a huge smile.
Our family erupted in cheers as everyone rushed to hug us.

"Holy shit! Why didn't you tell us!" Barrett exclaimed.
"We wanted today to be a day of celebration. Now, if you all excuse us, I want to dance with my wife before we all go out to eat." Kaya took my hand and led me away from everyone to the side.

'Crazier' by Taylor Swift started to play as we swayed along to the music.

"Thank you for standing by me through all this." Kaya whispered as she played with my hair.
"I told you I'd be here through it all, amore mio." I kissed her cheek.
