Chapter Eleven

Betty

I laid on the bed staring at the ceiling. It was eight a.m, and time for me to get up but I really didn't feel like leaving my room today.

I got out of bed and slowly made my way to the kitchen and poured myself a cup of coffee.
"Morning B." Danielle said as she walked in still wearing her pajamas.
"Morning." I sat at the table and took a sip of my coffee.

"You okay? You're not very talkative this morning."
"Yeah. Just thinking."
"About?" Danielle sat next to me.

"How did you know that you liked girls?"
"Uh well... I guess I kinda always just knew? I mean I had never really been in a relationship with a woman before Stef. I just knew I was attracted to them. Maybe I'm not the best person for this conversation, Stefania is better at this kinda stuff than I am."

"I'm better at what?" Stefania walked into the kitchen.
"How did you know you liked girls?" I asked her.
"My first kiss was with a girl. I was a teenager. I always found myself thinking about how pretty the the girls were in my school. Do you think you might like girls?"
"I don't know. I don't really have a crush or anything, I just don't really like the idea of me having a crush on a boy. It's not like I can go out and meet someone." I shrugged.
"You'll be able to eventually. You're only sixteen. You have a lot of time ahead of you kid." Danielle squeezed my shoulder.
"Thank you for trusting us enough to talk about this with us." Stefania gave me a smile.

I nodded and walked off to go lay back down in my bedroom.

*Two weeks later*

"Thank God we're back!" I said happily as Betty and I walked into the set.
"I was getting stir crazy. I'm so glad we can actually get out of the house." Betty agreed.

"Betty! Danielle!" Krista called us over.
We walked over and made sure to keep our six feet distance from her.
"I'm so happy to see you two. I wanted to talk to Betty, and she needs a guardian with her."
"What's up?" Betty asked.

"How do you feel about Betty having a relationship on the show? Seeing as you're still underage you'll have to have a parents permission."
Betty looked up to me, "What do you think Dani?"
"How much will you all show?" I asked Krista.
"It won't be like the other couples. We won't show them in bed or hint at them doing... sexual things. But we'll show a kiss or two and them cuddling and holding hands."
"Do you wanna do it kid?"

"I guess. Krista, do you know who would be Marissa's love interest?"
"We have someone in mind... but only if you're comfortable with it. We were thinking about pairing Marissa with a girl."
"Oh um... y-yeah that's fine." I stuttered out.

We waved goodbye and Danielle led me to set.
"You sure you're okay with that Betty? They won't be upset if you're not."
"I guess. I just didn't really expect it." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously.

"Betty! Danielle! We need you over here!"

I sat in my trailer waiting for Betty to get finished with her scenes when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!" I yelled with my back turned to the door.
I heard the door open and close, and I felt a pair of hands start massaging my shoulders.
"Mmm hi babe." I looked up and smiled as I saw Stefania.
"Ciao bambina. I got lots of compliments on my necklace today." She leaned down and kissed my forehead.
"I'm glad. Come here." I spun in my chair and pulled her into my lap.
"Did you have a good day?" She asked as she played with my hair.
"Yes. It sucks that we didn't have too many scenes together though."
"We'll have more soon. Where's Betty?"
"Finishing up her last scene. She doesn't know it yet, but she's getting promoted to series regular."
"What? That's amazing!" Stefania exclaimed.

"Krista is gonna tell her tomorrow. She's gonna have a new love interest too." I leaned over to my desk and grabbed a piece of candy.
"Oh really? Who?"
"I don't know. Some girl. I think she's coming in tomorrow so Krista can see if they have any chemistry."
"Ooo a girl? How does Betty feel?"

We heard a knock on the door, "Come in!"
Betty walked in with a smile on her face.
"Hey! You look happy." I said as she sat down on my couch.
"It feels good to be back. I met Marissa's love interest."
"Really? I thought she was coming in tomorrow?" I asked.
"She was but she forgot her script and I ran into her and Krista."
"So? What do you think?" Stefania asked.
"She seems nice." Betty tried to hide the blush on her face.

"Uh huh. And cute?" I teased.
"Are you two ready to go home? I'm starving. I'll cook dinner." Betty hopped up.
"You know how to cook?" Stefania asked. 
"I told you my Dad was Italian. Of course I know how to cook." Betty joked as she grabbed mine and Stefania's bags.

The next morning I woke up early and made breakfast for the three of us. It wasn't as good as Stefania's French toast, but it was still edible.

"Good morning bella." Stefania said as she walked into the kitchen.
"Morning! I made breakfast." I slid her a plate of French toast and a cup of her expresso she taught me to make.
"Grazie." She took a sip of the expresso. "I taught you well." She laughed.

Danielle walked into the kitchen, "Morning." She kissed Stefania's cheek and the top of my head.
"Morning. Breakfast is ready." I took a sip of my coffee.
"You're in a good mood this morning. Does this have to do with you and your love interest." Danielle wiggled her eyebrows at me.
"Marissa's love interest. Not mine. And no. I'm just in a good mood this morning." I smiled at the thought of the pretty brunette I met yesterday.
"Uh huh."

Danielle, Stefania and I arrived on set, and walked inside the building.

"Hey bambina, come this way." Stefania led me off to a space I had never been to.
We walked into the room, and saw the whole cast standing in there.
"Surprise!" They all shouted.
"What's going on?" I asked.

"Congratulations Betty! You're being promoted to a series regular!" Krista exclaimed.
"What! Seriously? Oh my God! Thank you! I'd hug you right now, but." I motioned between everyone standing six feet apart.

Everyone congratulated me and all went off to do their jobs.

"Hi. I'm Elizabeth. I'm playing Piper. Marissa's love interest. We met yesterday."
I turned and saw the brunette I met for a moment yesterday.
"H-Hi. I'm Betty."
"It's nice to meet you Betty. I think we have a scene together today, right?"
"Uh yes. I think ours is one of the last scenes of the day."
"Good. I'm looking forward to it." She smiled behind her mask and walked away.

"Betty? Are you excited?" Danielle asked.
"Huh? Oh yeah." I kept watching Elizabeth walk away.
"Is that her?" Stefania asked.
"Is who what?"
"Is that your love interest."
"Uh huh." I sighed.

I saw Danielle and Stefania exchange a look and I shook my head.
"Not like that."
"Uh huh. Come on kid. Let's go to set."
