Chapter Twenty

Danielle

"Betty, can we talk?" I asked as she came out of the trailer.
"I'm sorry, I won't come in unless you tell me to from now on. Trust me, I learned my lesson."
"I'm sorry you had to see that." I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly.

Betty shrugged and we started walking towards my car.
"So, I heard Elizabeth quit."
"Yep. But she couldn't be bothered to let me know."

"Ciao bambini." Stefania said as she walked up to us.
"Hi beautiful." I kissed her cheek.
"I saw enough of that earlier." Betty made a face.

"You ready for tomorrow?" I asked Betty as we stood in the kitchen cooking.
"Yeah. Just a little nervous."
"Why? We got this. It's just formality."
"I know. I just have a feeling."
"Hey, shake that feeling. You're ours kid." I wrapped my arm around her shoulder.

"You know what we need? A dance party." Stefania pushed play on her phone and 'Bidi Bidi Bom Bom' by Selena started playing.
"Come on bella! I know you know the words. I hear you blaring it every morning while you're getting ready for work." Stefania said as she spun Betty.

Me canta asi." I sang with a smile on my face. This was the most free I've felt in forever.

"What is this song even saying?" Danielle asked as she danced with Stefania.

I pressed rewind on Stefania's phone, "I'll sing it in English."

We danced around the kitchen some more and the timer went off for dinner.
"Alright. I'm not hungry right now. But I'm going to go to my room and pack." I said as I pulled the lasagna out of the oven.
"What? Why?" Danielle asked.
"Because you two need a date night. And I know I'm supposed to ask, but Jaina offered to let me stay the night so you two can have some 'alone time'. Even though I'm pretty sure you got enough alone time earlier." I said with a laugh.

"You brat. Of course you can stay at Jaina's house. We're supposed to go over there in the morning anyway for your virtual hearing. Her wifi is better than ours."
"Thanks guys! Just give it twenty minuets before you start doing anything." I grabbed my plate and went to my room.

Danielle

"So, we have the house alone tonight." I wrapped my arms around Stefania's waist.
"We do. I guess we could use the time to catch up on sleep."
"You won't be getting much sleep tonight, so get that idea out of your head." I laughed.

"Hold on amore mio. I have a song I want to play for you." She grabbed her phone and pressed play.
