Draven ran a hand over his face. He was caught in an argument whether to keep the girl or not and in his opinion, the answer was very simple.

"She can help us Draven! Help the people and drive away the Farsa," Reika snarled, "Why do you not—"

"She has a life!" Draven was breathing harshly, trying to not explode, "She has a life that isn't here. Tell me, Reika, Kai," they made a face at him, "What right do you have to keep an innocent girl captive when she has a family to get back too?!"

"That girl killed Farsa! You and I both know that Farsa cannot be killed! How did she do it? Are you not even a little curious, Draven?"

Reika glared at him as he exhaled, aware of the keen eyes of his king as well.

"I saw her mind," he said quietly, "She's been through hell the past day. She isn't of this world, Rieka. Her world has flames, and she was a victim of an inferno trying to buy a book. I do not think it is right to break basic principle and not allow her to return."

Kai and Reika fell silent for a moment before Kai crossed his hands off his chest. Draven and Rieka bowed their heads a little before looking back up, waiting for his verdict.

The blood pounded in his ears as Kai stared at him, inspecting every emotion on his face with guarded eyes. Abruptly, his face turned cold and Draven felt like Rieka had frozen his veins.

"The girl stays."

Rieka glanced at him with a sorrowful look but he simply continued to stare at Kai with disbelief.

"You can't be serious!" he exploded, "That girl doesn't deserve to be caught in this! It isn't her problem, we're shredding the principles placed by—"

"Do not tell me of the principles, Draven Tanaris," Kai hissed softly. His voice was laced with a hidden warning. "When the principles were made seven hundred years ago, the Farsa did not roam these lands and the seven kings protected the realms. That is not the case." Draven lowered his gaze. "I will do whatever it takes to keep my people safe. If it costs the life of a little girl, I will do so as well."

Kai straightened his back while Draven and Reika maintained their gases on the floor. It wasn't until Kai had left the room did they stare at each other. Draven was the first to talk.

"I hope you realize you destroyed the life of an innocent human."

Reika smiled sadly, "I hope you realize that you are saving an entire realm by not sending her back."
