WHAT? Kai suddenly roared through the link. An instant wave of panic slammed into him as he struggled to breath. What happened? Was she taken?
Draven was silent for a second before he whispered, No, she just... left. We didn't have any detection of the Farsa and the guards, they said she was off in a hurry
Shit, shit, shit.
Are you willing to come down? I can't trace her, Draven said urgently and his mind slammed into a halt.
What do you mean you can't trace her, he snarled furiously. Kai stood around and waited for an answer. Depending on what Draven said, he'd have to make a choice between the sunpool and finding Elvina. Kai was close enough to take a dip in the sunpool within two hours but if Draven wasn't able to locate Elvina, he'd need to interfere.
I can't find her electrical signal. There's no pulse in the palace and the forests don't carry her kind of electrical charge.
Bloody hell.
Alright, Kai said, I'll see if I can find her.
How far are you up the summit?
Don't worry about that. She's more valuable. I can get to the sunpool later but we won't find another kind of her.
There was a pause before Draven asked, Should I join you, your grace?
I'll handle this one.
Kai put up his mental shields and briskly walked down the hill, occasionally stumbling over the small rocks. It was far easier than climbing uphill but took a toll on his knees. Before long, he was down the hill and unexpectedly, his horse hadn't run away because of the storm.
Kai mounted the white beauty and clicked his tongue, steering him towards the forest behind them. He transitioned smoothly into a gallop and kept his eyes peeled for any anomalies. In the meantime, Kai also extended the use of his power.
That girl has an unhealthy obsession with throuble, he thought with frustration as his powers started covering a large area of the forest. He became a part of it, seeing what the animals saw, being with the plants, and roaming in the winds, trying to figure out where in the world she could have gone.
Subconsciously, his hands gripped the reins tighter as he came up with nothing as well.
Was she taken, he thought with dread, She could only have a ward on if both Draven and I can't detect her.
He continued to ride through the forest, the trees becoming a distant blur as the wind whipped through his hair. Every now and then, his horse would jump over fallen trees and go a little faster, reflecting the concern and worry that radiated off of Kai.
