When Elvina played pranks on people back home, she never got caught while they chased her. Here, Kai's speed was far more than her so before she even motioned to turn and bolt, he grabbed her arm.

"Nice try," he said exasperated, "Thank you for the water. Now I don't need to take a bath." If she wasn't caught in this certain situation, she could have laughed but as Kai's hand tightened their hold, she stamped the idea down. "Why were you hollering back there?"

The surprise was evident on her face as she scowled. "You heard that?" Elvina said, clearly annoyed, "You're telling me that you made me walk all the way down here when you heard me perfectly before?"

She had the urge to punch the smug smile off of his face. "Yep." Kai released her arm, pleasantly satisfied.

"Why did you decide to sleep all the way down there in such an uncomfortable place when I literally made a bed for you with my own freaking effort," she exploded, "Do you have any idea how difficult that was? Moreover it was ti--"

"Gods above woman," he cried, "would you let me talk?"

Elvina married her eyes and crossed her hands over her chest, "Talk."

Kai took a deep breath, "I was trying to climb to the top of the waterfall when I accidentally slipped, landing into the pool below. I got washed up or something, ending up face flat. Happy?"

She just stared at him. "You're crazy."

Kai snorted, "Yeah, crazy enough to be hanging out with a madwoman."

Elvina struck his forearm again and he let out a small 'oof'. She turned around and headed to the forest, ignoring Kai's words that resembled nothing short of curses.

She was looking for food. It was morning and the excruciating trip through the water and making the beds had her absolutely famished. These weren't the same forests where she came from. Furnace Creek didn't even have forests. It was just desert and sun wherever you went but the other places in California that had forests were stunning.

Too bad the fire season stuck every year and took down a decent amount of those forests.

Kai caught up to her after a while as she was inspecting some berries.

"What are we looking for?"

"Food," she replied, plucking the berry and sniffing it.

"Uh, Elvina," Kai said hesitantly, slightly scared to pisser her off again, "You may not want to do that."

She glanced at him and raised an eyebrow, "Why?"

"Ever heard of Poison Berries?"

Elvina snorted, "If they're from your realm, no."
