Kai shielded his eyes as a magnificent warm glow took over the ruins around them. His eyes searched for Elvina as even the sun's light was dimmed compared to whatever was producing such immense amounts of light.

"She did it," Draven breathed, his face contorting into concern and conflict.

"Did what," Reika demanded, "I haven't seen that light for over two hundred years. What did you do Draven?"

He was about to ask when bang rattled the ground and their attention snapped back to the ruins below them.

"Mother of gods," he whispered, noticing the golden particles and falling ash that was the only evidence of the medallion exploding.

Anger developed in the back of his mind as Elvina stood there, panting hard with bruises and cuts and a slice near her shoulder.

"Kai she saved us," Draven tried holding him back.

He whirled around, eyes cold as fury wrapped its dark talons around his mind, "She had no right!"

"She saved us," he snarled, "Are you willing to lose people for a medallion?"

In a flash, Kai held him at sword point as Reika and the others shifted uncomfortably, "That medallion is a symbol of power! That is lost then we are lost."

"Stop following old rules Kai," A feminine voice said from behind him, and he turned around with a lethal glare.

To her credit, Elvina didn't flinch as Kai raised a sword to her neck.

"You," he snarled. EElvina glanced at Draven.

Whatever he does right now, he whispered, He is torn by rage. Do not take it to heart.

Her gaze returned back to the elf king while his blade felt bitingly cold on her collarbone.

"Get out."

She raised her eyebrows, "Pardon?"

"Get the hell out of this kingdom," he seethed and Elvina realized he was serious.

"Kai," Reika said quietly.

"Stay out of this," he snapped but Elvina ignored them, staring in hurt and shock at what he had told her to do.

When his cold gaze returned on her, she squared her shoulders, taking off her crossbow, "Fine."

She looked at Draven and Reika, who in their own weird ways, had been friends to her. Her eyes glanced at Gavril, Drahhzen, and Falcon who looked as shocked as she was. They probably didn't know but she had seen them firing crossbows.
