The war cry had been sound.
Elvina had screamed before she lunged for the librarian, anger pulsing through her veins as she had one goal in mind.
Payback.
Rieka was too shocked to process what had happened and failed to take any action.
The inferno from the book store slammed her memory as she tried to kill Anne, uncaring about the consequences. They both rolled on the floor as she got a solid punch in before a strong hand pulled her back.
Her vision was lined with red as she stared at her, breathing deeply with hatred and rage.
"What are you doing," Rieka snarled in her ear, retraining her as she fought against her grip.
Elvina struggled, trying to get in another hit when the doors burst open with Draven and Kai storming in. Instantly, she froze and slowly faced the royals.
"What is going on here," Kai barked, taking in the blood dripping in from Anne's broken nose and the blood on Elvina's fist, putting both together. Elvina, to her credit, didn't show submission.
"She attacked me," Anne cried, holding her nose.
"You burned the bookstore down and threw me here!" Elvina snarled, "You think I'm going to be all friendly when I see your traitorous face?!"
She tried to deck her again but this time, Rieka was well prepared and she didn't move an inch.
"Elvina," Kai boomed and she stopped, staring at him. The ice in his voice forced her to falter as she tried to comprehend why he was so mad, "Get out!"
"Pardon?" Elvina felt like she was going to explode.
Kai took a threatening step closer and Rieka's grip tightened in warning. Elvina ignored it.
"Get. Out."
She raised her eyes to meet Kai's, mirroring the storm that brewed between them, "Gladly."
Shrugging out of Rieka's grasp, Elvina walked out with her head held high but not before throwing Anne a lethal glare. If looks could kill, Anne would be rotting in hell.
She made her way to her room, avoiding everyone purposely and driving anyone who came too close, away. Her mind was a mess. Questions swirled in her mind as she tried to understand what had just happened. She realized that Anne was an elf, meaning that the figure from the bookstore was her.
She had opened that portal.
She had destroyed her sense of peace.
Elvina shut the door behind her with a slam. She cracked her knuckles while pacing around, trying to rein the maelstrom in her brain. However, she only managed to raise her temper and suddenly, she grabbed a pillow off her bed and screamed into it until she couldn't breathe.
