I place my belongings in their appropriate drawers and spaces.

The echoing of my wheels filling the silence.

"Okay, now. I suppose I'm ready." I roll my way to the door, and out of the room.

Kelsey said to meet her in the lobby. There is a problem, though. I was never toured to the lobby.

"Excuse me," I say to the lady at the front desk. I have to stand in order for her to see me.

"Yes?"

"I was just wondering where the lobby is, exactly. My trainer advised me to meet her there after I was finished unpacking."

"The main lobby is down the hall to the right. But the lobby you're looking for is Straight ahead."

"Thank you," I say plopping back down in my wheelchair.

I spin myself around, the direction of the hall.

"Samantha!" A voice calls ever so excited.

I turn to see my trainer, Kelsey.

"Hi, Kelsey." Normally, I'm shy around new people, but with Kelsey I'm not.

"I booked us a room. It's up stairs, we'll have to take an elevator." Kelsey takes the handles of my wheelchair, and begins pushing me.

I don't complain, though. My arms were getting tired of pushing and spinning.

"Is it just us in there?" I ask as she pushes the 'up' button to the elevator.

"It's supposed to be. I'll have to check to make sure once we're there. Oh, I can already see the progress you're going to make. I have high hopes, and good faith you'll make it through."

Just by her words, I can tell she's a religious woman.

"What religion are you?"

"Christianity. I know, it's uncommon here. But originally I'm from America, the main religion is Christianity."

"No, no. I wasn't judging. I was just wondering."

The elevator dings while the doors follow behind opening.

"Okay," Kelsey whispers under her breath, "right this way." she directs my wheelchair to the right direction.

The room we stop it at is quite huge.

From the window, you can see trampolines, mobile bikes, and a swimming pool.

"Uhm, are you sure this is the right room?"

"Yes, indeed. No one else is in here. There's no need to be worried. Everything will be alright."

Kelsey and I enter the room. It is much bigger than I expected.

"Now, let's set the wheelchair over in that corner."

"Wait, I thought we weren't doing anything today." I state, following instructions.

"Yes, well, I thought we'd get you to walking a small distance for today. Tomorrow, if you're sore, we won't do anything. Promise." Kelsey stands to my side, helping me up.

"No, no. I'd like to get treatment over with." I sigh at the sharp pain shooting through my ribs.

"If you'd like, you may sit down."

"No. I'm not giving up. I must walk the distance." I blow some loose hair out of my eyes.

"I like your attitude."

"Thanks," I shyly say.

"The goal is to walk from here, to there." Kelsey points to a bright red line on the floor a few feet away. "If you'd like to go further, you may. Don't let a line stop you. Don't let it determine your length."

I nod and begin moving my legs.

All the while, I'm wanting to give up. I'm wanting to say 'I've had enough' but I can't. I'm pushing myself to be a stronger person. I'm pushing myself through.

I can do it.

A few long minutes later, I've reached the line.

"Yay! You did it!" Kelsey smiles while hugging me. "I knew you could."

"Thanks. May I go further?"

"Of course, yes."

"Without help?"

"You may. Just hold on to these bars when you lose balance, or at all times." Kelsey stands back and watches as I attempt I few more inches.

I look back to see how far I've come.

A foot.
I went a foot by my self.
I'm proud.

"I went a foot!" I say with excitement.

"I'm so proud!" Kelsey comes with my wheelchair. "You're going to get out sooner at this progress"

If only Luke were here to see.

If only my family were here.

They'd be proud, too.
