When detention is over, I hurriedly walk out of the school building. I don't wanna spend another minute in there.

I expect Sam to follow, but she, instead, walks the direction of her house.

"Sam!" I call out. She turns at my voice. I run to her, slowly. I'm not much of a runner. "Hey," I say once I approach her.

"Hi." She says back with a smile.

"Are you not coming over?"

"I was thinking about taking a walk. You know, to get some fresh air. Dylan and Amy will yell at me once I'm home. My parents will once they get home from work. I don't want that just yet."

Sam has a hard life with her parents, but yet a good one. They expect her to be a better daughter than her mum was, and the pressure is too much for Sam. She tries hard, but it's never enough for her parents. Dylan, on the other hand, is okay to be a boy. He doesn't have the same pressure Sam has, and probably never will.

"I see. Well, do you mind if I join? I mean, I have nothing to do at home." I kick a rock and watch as it travels a short distance.

Sam smiles. "Sure. I'd like to have company."

I smile, as well, and begin walking.

"Which direction?"

"Either way." Sam and I stand at the fork in the road, and contemplate on which way. "Right," Sam finally decides.

"Works for me." I walk beside her, and hear our footsteps identical.

"Have you ever wanted to leave your house? Like, the drama and everything?" Sam asks, eyes focused at her feet.

"Well, there's not much drama at my house. But when there is, I always run. I leave for quite sometime, and don't return."

Sam frowns, "I wish I could do that. My mum and dad always have drama, and I get mixed up in it. It sucks."

I hear the pain in Sam's voice when she talks. Something I've never heard before.

"You can come to me. I'll run with you." I quietly say.

Sam looks at me and smiles, "I know." She kisses my lips. "And I love you for that."

The tingly feeling I get inside never leaves.

It's always here when I'm with Sam.

I can't describe my love for Sam.

Sadly, I sense she doesn't feel the same.
