"How long do we have to stay in here?" I ask as the nurse checks on both my brother and I.

"Well, your brother should get out, all goes well, in two weeks." She writes something on her paper, "You, however, will get out in two weeks, then go straight to rehab. You're going to have to learn to move correctly after your out. Your ribs are pretty damaged, it'll take time. You'll spend perhaps a month in rehab, or until all goes better than expected. Dylan, he just has to learn how to walk with a broken foot. Everything will be fine, dear." She smiles before leaving.

Both my parents, Liz, and Luke are in the room. It feels almost perfect, if only Dylan was awake.

"Your brother is fine," Mum says. She's been leaning over his bedside every since the nurse came in.

"Yeah, I know." I smile. "He always is."

"And you're going to be okay," Liz says with a warm smile.

"I know," I sigh. "I just wish Dylan hadn't got hurt. He doesn't deserve it."

"Samantha, things happen for a reason. You couldn't have stopped this if you tried." Dad says with a laugh.

"I suppose." I glance at the television.

It's on some boring news channel my dad had set it on earlier. Perhaps two hours ago.

I've never really been into the news, or politics. Even during school, economics isn't my thing.

I'm more into writing.

"Your father and I will be back. We have to go get cleaned up, and changed." Mum says giving me a slight hug.

"Wait, I thought you guys were going across country?"

"Well, we were. But then this happened, our children are more important than a job."

"Yeah, but you may never get the chance again."

"Sammy, dear, don't worry about us. We'll be alright."

"Okay, then." I say as they exit.

It's much more quieter in here now without their constant sobs, and sarcastic comments.

"You still look fabulous, dear." Liz says giving me a kiss upon the cheek

"Thank you, Liz. As do you." I reply.

"Thank you. I had just woken up from a nap when the emergency nurse called. Then Luke came home, and we rushed here."

"You both look beautiful," I smile. A blush creeps upon Luke's cheeks as he smiles.

"Thank you," he shyly says.

"I'll leave you two alone for a while. I'm going to get me some lunch. No PDA while I'm gone." Liz chuckles then exits the room, as well.

"I hate seeing you in here," Luke sighs. He takes me hand, and rubs his thumb across my knuckles.

"I hate being in here," I reply. "It sucks. But I'll get out soon."

"I hope." Luke places a kiss on the back of my palm, sending tingles throughout me.

"I'm sorry I gave you such a scare. I told the nurse not to call you, or your mum."

"Hey, it's alright. The good thing is is that you're both fine, and going to heal."

"Yeah, I suppose."

"Sam?" Dylan faintly says as he awakes

"Dylan, oh my God." I reply, holding onto his hand.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"You shouldn't have saved me. I would've been fine." Dylan removes his hand from mine, wiping his eyes.

"You would've been dead, Dylan. I wasn't going to let that happen."

"Yeah, but you wouldn't be in so much pain."

"Dylan, losing you would have caused more pain. I'd take being in the hospital over you dying any given day."

"I suppose." Dylan changes his television for his side.

He blocks out the world, like usual.

I'm glad he's okay.

I'm glad I'll be okay.
