Luke's P.O.V.
After hearing what Sam had done for me, I knew I couldn't let her be in detention alone. Even if that does mean Mum getting onto me once I'm home. I'd risk it for Sam.
"Luke, you don't have to do this, ya know." Samantha implies before walking into the detention room, again.
"I know," I say. "I'm doing it because we're friends. Remember?" I take a seat in the back of the class, away from Sam. I can't risk getting in trouble again, especially in detention.
Thankfully, it's a different teacher than before. More people, also.
"Well, looks like we'll be moving to the cafeteria." The teacher, Mr. Hox says. "Everybody up," he demands in an army like voice.
Everyone jumps out of their seats, and scrambles to the door.
"To the cafeteria."
We walk in a single file line, or some of us. I notice Sam in the back all alone, head down in shame. I stop and let people pass me.
Once Sam gets closer, I walk again.
"Hey."
"Hey." Sam keeps her head down, and her voice low.
"What's wrong?" I ask, bumping her shoulder.
She shrugs and half smiles. "Nothing. I'm just not feeling well."
I nod and let her enter the cafeteria first.
I take the first open round table there is in sight. Sam takes the second.
Mr. Hox calls roll, and exits for a while. There's supposed to be no talking, unfortunately, I don't care.
I jump tables to Sam.
She pretends to be working on math, ignoring my presence.I take my finger and tap her book. "Hey," I whisper.
Sam looks a bit, then looks back down.
I place my hand on her book. She moves it away.
"Sam." I say, with a sigh. She continues to work.
I poke her side, then her arm, and finally her face.
She smiles and laughs.
"There's that smile." I smile and study her features closely.
She's gorgeous, and I wish she could see she was.
I kiss her on the cheek before realizing what I had done.
"Shit." I say, tightly closing my eyes.
Sam chuckles and closes her book. I feel small warm hands take mine
"Don't be embarrassed, Luke. It's not the first time someone's done that. Or you, for a fact. You done that when we first met."
I smile.
"Yeah. That's when I was stupid."
Sam smiles and kisses my hand.
"But it's adorable." She goes back to her book, with a smile.
The thing about Sam is she never truly shows her feelings.
I want to love her like she's never been.
