Chapter 13
Grace pushed her small frame further into Theo's as they continued to walk slowly over the uneven roads, his arms instantly tightened around her to offer some more warmth, it was going to be a long travel back, whoever dragged her this deep into the vampire's land clearly had no intention on helping Grace find somewhere safe.
"H–How much longer?"
Her teeth chattered a little together as she shuddered under the blanket, her head turning to allow herself to look up to the Alpha who looked down to her, his dark brows furrowing together in a knit.
"A day perhaps.. You were deep in the lands and Monte is exhausted..–"
He told her quietly, Grace looked back down to the horse, her fingers stroking down his nape once again.
"Sorry..-"
She murmured, the horse huffed air and threw his head back which prompted a laugh from Theo.
"I'm sure he forgives you..–"
Theo let one hand of the rein and allowed his arm to snake around her small waist, almost yanking her up onto his spread lap, he couldn't believe the cold weather was affecting her so badly, it wasn't like this all those years ago. Grace was never bothered by the elements.
"We can set up a tent for the night, i don't think your body has adjusted just yet...–"
He commented, Monte threw his head back and forth once again in agreement and Grace nodded her own head gently. Goosebumps still evident on her flesh as she shuddered. Slowly tugging on the reins Monte turned left up a hill, his hooves digging into the mud as Theo tightened his grasp on Grace when she leaned back into him more.
Minutes passed and they soon came to level ground, Theo tugged the reins once more and Monte came to a halt. Shifting himself Theo managed to slide off the back of his horse before unbuckling one of the ropes and pulled a bag out before walking past the beast and his Luna.
Dropping the bag down he unfastened it and was quick to assemble the tent, it was big enough to fit at least six people inside, he glanced over his shoulder towards Grace and motioned for her to get off the horse and he held the tent cloth open for her to get inside out of the rain.
However that changed when he caught a scent that blew through the wind and he snapped his head over his shoulder in the opposite direction.
"Get inside quickly..—"
He ordered and Grace was quick to scramble off the horse and ran into the tent. She caught the scent. Vampires? Maybe? They smelt different. Theo jogged over to Monte, grabbing a bag off the horse before hitting its back leg.
"Go; get home I'll follow" He commanded the horse who stood up on his back legs and neighed before turning and running off. Theo sprinted to the tent and quickly shut the tent door, he dropped the bag in front of it and pulled out a small necklace, Grace knew it was for protection. The star gave it away.
"Theo what is—"
A large hand covered her mouth as his other hand motioned to his lips to be quiet, snarling and growling could be hear outside the tent as well as pacing feet.
Grace felt nausea wash over her as she kept still, listening to whatever was moving outside, searching for them.
